Özet

The purpose of this study was to understand the antecedents and consequences of actual political behavior in organizational settings. We examined actual political behavior through two different frames.In the first part of the study, organizational and personal variables and their impact on employee's actual political behaviors were investigated. Our proposition was perception of organizational justice would have a negative impact on actual political behaviors, social needs and work ethics of an employee would moderate this relation. Results indicate positive effect of perceived organizational justice on actual political behavior which means that political behaviors affect individual's justice perception and employees, who get their expected goals as a result of using soft political tactics evaluate their environment as just and fair. Though the interaction of perceived organizational justice with social needs and work ethics did not indicate any significant impact on actual political behaviors, social needs influence political behavior in such a way that increases in the employee's need levels lead to increases in displaying political behaviors. However, individuals with different needs use different tactics.In the second part of the study, The outcome of actual political behavior on employee's job satisfaction and organizational commitment were examined. The most important finding in terms of the outcomes of political behavior is the increase in positive attitudes towards the job among employees who meet their expectations through their soft political tactics.
