ABSTRACT Masters Thesis A RESEARCH ON THE SYSTEM OF OPEN AND GREEN AREAS OF KIRIKKALE Zuhal Güven Ankara University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Landscape Architecture Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Yüksel öztan 1992, Page: L'l'J Jury: Prof. Dr. Yüksel Östari Prof, Dr, Hayran Çelen âssoc. Prof. Dr. Kurcan Uy da S Cities that are established for the living and accomodation need of people have great different Q conditions when compared with the natural environment. Human activities have spoilt the ecology of the city and as a result of unsuitable land uses, resources such as atmosphere, water and soil have been polluted. The dimension of the deterioration is quite large, especially in the industrial cities. Related with this growing, construction of concrete buildings continues to increase and as the result, humanbeings divert from the natural environment from day to day. Today it's understood in the whole world that open and green areas in cities have great importance in solving such problems of the cities and satisfying people's desire of nature. It is certain to form a system of open and green areas in the cities that offer many other opportunities to the city people.By the influence of the industrial activities, Kırıkkale City has become a mass of high population and concrete. However, the number of open and green areas in the city hasn't increased at the same speed. in this research, after the examination of related documents and observations, the recent condition of open and green areas in Kırıkkale has been brought up. Finally, some proposals are improved on the solutions of the determined problems in these areas and on the creation of an open and green area system.
