ABSTRACT FEASIBILITY OF READY MIKED CONCRETE İN ANKARA ACCORDÎNG TO TYPE OF CONSTRUCTION EKERMEN, Kaan Kemal M.S. in Civil Engineering Supervisor: Prof. Asim Yeginobali September, 1992, 207 pages. This study presents the developrnent, current applications, advantages and disadvantages of ready mixed concrete in Turkey and especially in Ankara. Study basicly covers cost comparison of ready mixed and site mixed concretes in Ankara. For each of the four ready mixed concrete regions, cost analysis of ready mixed and site mixed concrete were performed. in ready mixed concrete analysis, Bastas's ready mixed concrete unit prices which showed correspondence with the average ready mixed concrete unit prices in Ankara, were used. Mhile preparing the analysis, Ministry of Public Works and Settlernent Unit Price Analysis was taken as reference but f ör each ready mixed concrete region, för differsnt building elements such as footings, -iii-foundation walls, columns and stairs and floor slabs in different floor heigths, various cost analysis were also performed. Required manhours used in analysis were obtained by time and motion studies which were performed in four different sites in Ankara. Analysis were based on six-flcor residential buildings and on ES 16 concrete class. Comparisons between site mixed concrete which was placed by small concrete crane and wheelbarrows, and ready raixed concrete which was placed by concrete pumps, were mada. in conclusion, ready mixed concrete was found to be econonıically feasible in ist floor and above in Region I(closest to the site), and 6th floor and above in Region II. in Regions III and IV, site mixed concrete was more economical.
