Özet

Bu çalısmanın amacı Türkiye'deki Eğitim Fakültelerinin İngilizce Öğretmenliğibölümlerinde eğitim gören öğrencilerin staj deneyimlerini yansıtmak ve ayrıcaöğretmenlik anlayıslarına paralel olarak, teorikte öğrendiklerini pratiğe geçirmesafhasını sorgulamaktır. Hedef, stajyer öğretmenlerin gözünden okul deneyimidersinin betimlenmesidir.50 maddeden olusan Likert ölçeği tipindeki anket 3 farklı üniversitede 2006?2007 öğretim yılında 300 öğrenciye uygulanmıstır. Anketin pilot uygulamasınınardından görüsme yöntemi de uygulanarak, anketi tamamlayıcı veriler eldeedilmeye çalısılmıstır. Çalısmanın örneklemi 3 farklı üniversitenin İngilizceÖğretmenliği bölümünde eğitim gören 4. sınıf öğrencileridir. Bu ortaközelliklerinden baska yas ve cinsiyet değiskenleri gözetilmeksizin, anketçalısması için rastgele seçilmislerdir. Veriler SPSS programında hesaplanarak,yüzde ve standart sapmaları hesaplanmıstır. Üniversitelerarası verilerdekifarklılığı ölçmek amacıyla ANNOVA ve Scheffe testleri uygulanmıstır. Eldeedilen sonuçlar tablolar halinde sunulmustur.Çalısmanın sonuçları stajyer öğretmenler teorik bilgilerini pratiğe aktarırkenzorluk çekmediklerini göstermektedir. Materyal Gelistirme ve Sınıf Yönetimidersleri staj deneyimleri boyunca en çok yararlandıkları derslerin basındagelmektedir. Buna ek olarak, staj okulları ve eğitim sistemindeki aksaklıklar,okul deneyimi uygulamasını zorlastıran etkenler olarak ortaya çıkmıstır. Birbaska önemli çıkarım ise, stajyer öğretmenlerin kendi öğretme anlayıslarınaayna tutacak bir yaklasım olan Yansıtıcı Öğretim metodunun staj deneyimindekietken rolüdür.

The aim of this study is to describe and compare the reflections of EFL studentteachers during their practicum. It also attempts to investigate the practicumcourse in the ELT program at different universities in Turkey to find out whetheror not the students can make use of their theoretical knowledge in theirexperience in line with their conceptions of teaching. The goal is to find out thecharacteristics of the practicum through the perceptions of student teachers.The questionnaire, as an instrument in data collection in this study, consists of50 statements in Likert- type and is divided into three parts: pre- practicumstage, during practicum stage and post- practicum stage. The students areasked to choose the appropriate responses for the statements given. Thequestionnaire was administered to 300 students at three different universities inthe 2006-2007 Academic Year. The setting and subjects were naturally formedin university or class settings in which the only common characteristic ofsubjects was that they were 4th grade ELT students. Gender or age was nottaken as variables.The data were calculated in SPSS, setting frequency rates and ratios of theresponses in each statement and they were presented in tables. Means werecalculated and clustering was done in order to find out the differences betweenresponses given at each universities. The responses to interview questionswere presented and discussed in comparison with the results of thequestionnaire .The responses of the participants from different universities werecalculated by using one way ANNOVA and Scheffe tests.The data analysis indicated that student teachers did not have any difficulty intransferring theory into practice and indeed Materials Design and ClassroomManagement courses are the most effective ones throughout their practicumexperience.Hence, training schools and the education system arouse as the two mainfactors effecting practice teaching in a negative way. Another important issue inpracticum is reflective teaching which enables student teachers to gain insightsof their own teaching.
