Özet

Bu araştırmanın temel amacı; ilköğretim 4. ve 5. sınıflarda fen ve teknoloji dersinin yürütülmesine ilişkin sınıf öğretmenleri ve fen ve teknoloji öğretmenlerinin görüşlerini değerlendirmektir.Araştırmada, tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu 2011-2012 eğitim-öğretim yılında İstanbul ili Anadolu Yakası'nda ilköğretim okullarında görev yapan 317 sınıf öğretmeni ve fen ve teknoloji öğretmenidir. Araştırmada verilerin toplanması amacıyla kişisel bilgi formu ve anket geliştirilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde, yüzde, frekans değerleri ve çapraz tablolardan yararlanılmıştır.Mezuniyeti fen alanı dışındaki sınıf öğretmenlerinin deney ve etkinlikleri düzenlemede kendilerini yetersiz hissettikleri sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Hizmet içi eğitim alan öğretmenlerin, hizmet içi eğitim almayanlara göre deney ve etkinlik düzenlemede daha etkin oldukları saptanmıştır.Fen ve teknoloji branşı öğretmenleri MEB tarafından ilköğretim 4. ve 5. sınıf fen ve teknoloji dersinin yürütülmesine ilişkin düzenleme yapılması gerektiğini düşünmektedirler. Sınıf öğretmenleri ilköğretim 4. ve 5. sınıflarda sınıf öğretmenlerini başarılı bulmaktadırlar. Fen ve teknoloji öğretmenleri, ilköğretim 4. ve 5. sınıflarda fen ve teknoloji derslerinin, branş öğretmenleri tarafından yürütülmesi durumunda, öğrencilerin 6, 7 ve 8. sınıflarda dersi daha iyi kavrayacaklarını belirtmektedirler.Fen ve teknoloji öğretmenleri ile sınıf öğretmenleri fen laboratuarlarında deney ve etkinlik hazırlamada bir görevlinin olmasını istemektedirler. İlköğretim okulları 4. ve 5. sınıflarda fen ve teknoloji dersini yürüten sınıf öğretmenlerine fen öğretimi ile ilgili hizmet içi eğitim verilmesi ihtiyacı ortaya çıkmaktadır. Kıdemi 1-5 yıl arasında olan öğretmenler diğer kıdem gruplarına göre fen öğretimi, deney ve etkinliklerin düzenlenmesi konularında kendilerinin daha yetersiz olduklarını belirmektedirler. İlköğretim 4. ve 5. sınıflarda fen ve teknoloji dersinin diğer derslere göre daha fazla uzmanlık gerektirdiği her iki branş tarafından da ifade edilmektedir.

The main aim of this research is to evaluate the opinions of primary school teachers and of science and technology teachers about teaching science and technology lessons at 4th and 5th grades of primary schools.Scanning has been used as the method in the research. The sample group of the research is 317 primary school and science and technology teachers, lecturing on the Anatolian side of Istanbul?s primary schools in 2011-2012 education calender. In order to gather data for the research, personal information forms and polls have been developed. Percentage, frequency values and across tables have been utilized in analyzing the data.It has been realized that those primary school teachers who graduated from departments other than science or technology feel themselves unable to conduct experiments and activities. It has been concluded that those who benefited from in-service training are more effective at conducting experiments and activities than those who did not take such a training.Science and technology teachers are of the opinion that MEB (National Education Ministry) should make some changes about teaching science and technology lessons at 4th and 5th grades of primary schools. Primary school teachers find themselves successful at 4th and 5th grades. On the other hand, science and technology teachers point out that if science and technology lessons are lectured by science and technology teachers themselves, students will grasp the lesson better at 6th, 7th and 8th classes.Both science and technology teachers and primary school teachers demand a person staffed at science laboratories to prepare experiments and activities. The primary school tecahers, lecturing science and technology at 4th and 5th grades, appear to need in-service training on teaching science and technology lessons. The teachers whose length of service is between 1-5 year(s) consider themselves even more incapable of conducting experiments and activitities and teaching science compared to other seniority groups. Both science and primary school teachers admit that science and technology lessons at 4th and 5th grades require more expertise than the other subjects do.
