Özet
Geçmişin yeniden inşası konusunun asıl mecrası tarihyazım alanıdır; çünkü her türlü konunun bir geçmişi ve anlatısı mevcuttur. Mimarlık düşüncesinin oluşma ihtimali, söz konusu geçmiş sorunsalı ve söylemi üzerine kuruludur. Başka türlü düşünebilmeyi konu alan modernlik kurgusunda, şüphesiz ki farklı araçlara ihtiyaç vardır. Etkileme ve ikna etme sanatı anlamına gelen retorik, bir söylem üretim biçimi olarak türlü konularla ilgilenebilir. Esas olarak dilbilimin ve edebiyatın çalışma alanına giren retorik, dili ve sözün kullanımını kurallara bağlama ihtiyacından ortaya çıkmıştır. Bir keşif olarak retorik konusu ise, yazının kendi kendini icat etmeye başladığı anda daha da önemli hale gelmiştir. Çünkü günümüzde tarihsel geçmiş arayışını sürdürme inancı geçersizdir; tarihyazımı artık edebi bir uğraştır. Dolayısıyla retoriğe olan ilgi, anlatı dilinin yoruma açık olması ve sonsuz varyasyon üretebilmesi yönüyle daha da artmaktadır, denebilir. Bu doğrultuda tez çalışması, metinsel temsili inşa etmede retorik araçların bir yöntem olarak kullanılmasını sorgulamak üzere yeniden okuma konusunu hedefleyerek; retorik ve mimarlık ilişkisinde mimarlık düşüncesini metinler aracılığıyla ortaya koymaktadır. Bu kapsamda incelenen Usûl-i Mimârî-i Osmânî (1873) adlı kitap, retorik araçlar yardımıyla yeniden okunmuş; buna bağlı olarak anlamın sonsuz varyasyonları görünür kılınarak, mimarlık kuramı ve düşüncesinin imkânları araştırılmıştır. Ortaya konan araştırma soruları ise, anlatılara historiyografik bağlamın ötesinde mimarlık düşüncesi ve tarihyazım çerçevesinde boyut kazandırmak için var edilmiştir. Bu bağlamda çalışma; Genel Bilgiler, Yapılan Çalışmalar 1 ve 2, Bulgular ve İrdeleme, Sonuçlar ve Öneriler gibi bölümlere ayrılmıştır. Genel Bilgiler bölümünde, sorunun belirlenmesi, çalışmanın önemi, amaçlar ve kapsam, araştırma konusunun tanım ve kabulleri, kavramsal arka plan konuları, mevcut bilgi alanında sorgulanarak ortaya konmuştur. Yapılan Çalışmalar bölümü ise ikiye ayrılarak; retorik konusu ve Usûl-i Mimârî-i Osmânî'nin tarihsel arka planı üzerinde durulmuştur. Bulgular ve İrdeleme bölümünde; retorik, mimarlık ve metin arasındaki ilişki tartışılarak ortaya konan iddialar sınanmıştır. Sonuçlar ve Öneriler bölümü ise; belirlenen amaç, kapsam ve kabuller doğrultusunda araştırma sorularına yanıt vererek, yeni çalışmalar için sunulan öneriler ile mimarlık düşüncesinde retorik inşa tartışılmıştır.

The main field of reconstruction of the past is historiography because every subject has a past and a story. The probability of the creation of architectural thought is based on the past problem in question and discourse. Surely, different tools are needed within modernity fiction focusing on other ways of thinking. Meaning the art of affecting and convincing, rhetoric can deal with various subjects as a discourse production method. Mainly being a part of linguistics and literature, rhetoric has arisen from the need of setting rules for the language and the word. Rhetoric as a discovery became more important once it started to invent itself because today the belief of sustaining search for historical past is invalid; today historiography is a literary study. In other words, it can be said that the interest in rhetoric is increasing with regard to the capability of the narrative language in producing open to comment and infinite number of variations. In this regard, the thesis puts forward architectural thought within the relationship between rhetoric and architecture through texts by aiming at rereading to investigate the use of rhetoric tools/canons as a method in constructing textual representation. The book analyzed for this, titled Usûl-i Mimârî-i Osmânî (1873), has been re-read with the help of rhetoric tools; infinite variations of meaning have been made visible and opportunities of architecture theory and thought have been investigated. The research questions have been created in a way to bring an architectural thought and historiography dimension to the stories. In this regard, the study has been divided into the following chapters; General Information, Previous Studies 1 and 2, Findings and Analysis, Conclusions and Suggestions. In General Information, identification of the question, significance of the study, objectives and scope, subject of the study, descriptions and assumptions of the research and conceptual background have been investigated within the current knowledge domain of architecture. Previous Studies has been divided into two; rhetoric subject and historical background of Usûl-i Mimârî-i Osmânî are focused. In Findings and Analysis; the relationship among rhetoric, architecture and text is discussed and claims are tested. Research questions are answered within Conclusions and Suggestions in accordance with the objectives, scope and assumptions; besides these, rhetoric construction in architectural thought is discussed with suggestions for new studies.
