Özet (Çeviri)
The present study aimed to test three hypotheses concerning the cognitive vulnerability to depression: a) Depressed mood increases the access to negative memories and constructs even in those people who are not depression-prone. b) The access to negative permanent structures are mood-state dependent. c) There are important differences between people who are depression-prone and who are not with regard to processing of emotional stimuli. Nineteen clinically depressed patients, 22 mildly depressed students with a history of depression and 30 non-depressed not depression-prone control subjects partiCipated to the study. By means of mood-induction procedure all subjects were made depressed. The increased access to negative structures were assessed by using Emotional Strooptask in which cards including neutral, manic and depressivecontent words presented. All of the subjects were asked to complete Emotional Stroop-task, Beck Depression Inventory and 9 point Likert-type subjective rating of mood before and after mood-induction. The results indicated that in neither of the groups, transient effect of depressed mood lead to increased latency in depressive card. However, the effect of permanent structures on Stroop latency of clinically and mildly depressed subjects with respect to depressive stimuli was found to be significant. Also, important differences were observed between mildly and clinically depressed subjects with regardt to their Stroop performance in depressive card. It was concluded that the negatively biased information-processing observed in depressed patients is not mere effect of depressed mood but results from negative permanent structures. Thus, this study provided supporting evidence to Beck's Cognitive Model of depression.
