The aim of the present study was to investigate the reliability of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) in Turkish cultural setting, as well as to investigate whether there would be significant differences in anxiety and self-esteem levels of different Jungian types. The data were collected from 352 university s~udents using the MBTI, the Four Systems Anxiety Questionnaire (FSAQ) and the Coopersmith Setf-esteem Scale (CSES). The results showed that seven of the eight subscales of the MBTI had adequate inter-item and split half reliability levels, whereas Intuition subscale needed improvement. According to the results, some of the Jungian types were in the majority and some others were in the minority, the ones in the minority being in line with the latest results obtained with the MBTI in literature. The results also showed that anxiety and self-esteem levels differed significantly as a function of Jungian type; introverted types had higher anxiety and lower self-esteem levels compared to the extraverted types. In the present sample sex did not have any effect on the anxiety and self-esteem levels other than significantly higher somatic anxiety level observed in the female sample.
