Özet (Çeviri)
In this dissertation, it is argued that, if the higher educational institutions of some countries are not promoting the competencies which employers most require, then this, in turn, reflects badly on those higher educational institutions, seeing as one of their primary aims is to prepare students for the labour market. If this is the case, however, then the policies which those higher educational institutions (could be said to) follow should be changed as soon as possible in order to better provide for their students' future needs, as well as those of national employers. Since many countries have been influenced by competence-based approaches to vocational education and training (this shall be abbreviated as CIVET throughout the entire dissertation), this dissertation examines the different types of VET approaches which different countries could be said to have adopted in an attempt to examine whether different countries' VETs are reflecting the competencies which employers require the most as well as to determine which typification of VET better suits the requirements which employers have of their graduates; thus, it is shown that, whereas some of these countries VETs over-emphasise particular competencies to the exclusion of other competencies which employers require—thereby creating a lacuna in graduates' ability to satisfy employers' needs—, they should thus also be integrating the other competencies which employers want from their employees into their CIVETs. It is also suggested, however, that this process of integration (what I call“multidimensionalisation”) has already begun to emerge in these different countries' policies, thereby helping to match these countries' CIVETS with what employers actually want from their employees. Furthermore, it is strongly suggested that this process of multidimensionalisation should continue.
