Skills are what people must know in order to perform a job. In the new economy, the demands from employees are changing tremendously and these demands novv require employees to have nevv skills in order to be successful. HR professionals use some techniques, vvlıich are skills gapping. self assessment, and emotional intelligence, to assess employees' skill needs. In this chapter, the researcher discussed the general skills needs with particular attention given to CORS employees. The writer limited the general skills to certain categories, vvhich are believed suited to the main purpose of the study: • Career Planning: Employees are in a position to have responsibility in the nevv economy vvhen it comes to their career, • Coping with Change: The \vorld keeps changing. Dealing \vith change is critical for employees in order to be successful in today's economy, • Life/Work Balance: Employees need to balance competiııg demands to ensure that they are spendiııg their time most effectively in areas that are of value to them, • Retirement Planning: The trends in the nevv economy are shifting the responsibilities of retirement planning and furıding onto employees, • Stress Management: Today's \vork place and work conditions may lead to stress.
