Özet (Çeviri)
The Information System Development (ISD) has been seen as important phenomenon and widely discussed in the Information System literature over the years. The implementation of the Information Technologies has been treated as an organisational change which is being seen very complex due to the nature of systems. These complexities have direct relationships to the success and failure of the implementation of the Information System. In this view, Information System such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is one of the widely accepted solutions for manufacturing companies to gain competitive advantage over their rivals. However, successful implementation of these systems is very low as many businesses do not meet the intended project objectives. As a result of these, many businesses faced huge crises and bankrupted. The failure rate of these projects is even worse for Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) due the lack of capabilities. In this view, this research study aims to describe the success and failure of the complex Information System Development in a Turkish wire manufacturing SME. To support this study, the Punctuated Socio-technical Information Change (PSIC) model was employed in this study. The model focuses on the interaction and relationships between the interdependent variables. Throughout the case study, several findings were generated. First, the model includes the various levels of processes. The findings proved that work and project level processes are excessively interacted and played critical role in the implementation. Second, the top management support was found to be crucial in the implementation as demonstrated in literature review. Finally, the study proved the best of breed ERP packages may not necessarily fit all businesses processes. The nature of the business processes may cause the customisation in the ERP packages. This customization naturally causes the extra costs and delays. The findings also suggested that the Turkish SME case in the study provides a unique ISD trajectory. The study ends with the recommendations that may be helpful for future researcher in IS field and practitioners involved in the Information system projects.
