Özet
Filozoflar önceleri evren hakkında düşünmekteydi. Daha sonra gittikçe evrenin bilinme yolları üzerinde düşünmeye başladılar. Nihayetindeyse, bu bilinmenin ifade edildiği araca dikkatlerini yönelttiler. Yani, felsefede metafizikten epistemolojiye ve oradan da dil felsefesine doğru doğal bir ilerlemenin varlığından söz edilebilir. 19. yüzyılın başlangıcından itibaren filozoflar ilgilerini gittikçe artan bir biçimde dile yöneltmişlerdir. Bu süreçte metafiziksel ve epistemolojik öğretiler dil felsefesine dayanılarak yeniden formüle edilmişlerdir. Özeğinde dil felsefesi bulunan ve dilin yapısal, biçimsel ve mantıksal olarak araştırılmasının felsefi açıdan asli olduğu görüşünün yüksek sesle dile getirildiği öğretiye analitik felsefe denir. Gottlob Frege ise, analitik filozofların ilki olarak düşünülebilir. Frege'nin dil hakkındaki görüşleri, analitik geleneğin karşıt kutbu olarak düşünülmesinin daha iyi olabileceği Carnap, Wittgenstein gibi filozoflar üzerinde derin bir etkiye sahiptir. Russell'ın mantık ve matematikle ilgili yazılarında ve günümüzde anlamın kapsamlı bir teorisini inşa etmek isteyen analitik filozofların düşüncelerinde de, onun etkisini görebilmekteyiz. O halde, Frege'nin analitik felsefede biçimlendirici bir figür olduğunu; hem felsefe tarihinde hem de mantık tarihinde önemli bir yere sahip olduğunu kabul etmek durumundayız. Bu çerçevede, bu çalışmanın amacı, Frege'nin analitik felsefedeki konumunu betimlemek, onun felsefesi ve yaşadığı döneminde başat olan öğretilerle ilişkisini göstermek, onun mantık ve dil anlayışını açıklamaktır.

First, philosophers had been thinking about universe. Afterwards, they gradually started to reflect on the way the universe is recognized. Finally, they turned their attention to the medium in which such recognition is expressed. In other words, it can be said that there is a natural progression in philosophy from metaphysics, through epistemology, to the philosophy of language. Philosophers since the beginning of the nineteenth century have increasingly turned their attention to language. In this process metaphysical and epistemological theories have reformulated on the basis of the philosophy of language. Analytic philosophy is a doctrine whose centre is the philosophy of language and which give tongue to that the structural, formal, logical investigation of language is philosophically fundamental. It can be considered that Gottlob Frege was the first analytic philosopher. His understanding of language had a profound influence on Carnap and Wittgenstein, who might well be considered the opposite poles of the analytic tradition. We can also see his influence in the logical and mathematical works of Russell and more recently, in the will of analytic philosophers to construct a extensive theory of meaning. Then, we must acknowledge that Frege is a seminal figure in analytic philosophy and that he has a significant place in both the history of logic and the history of philosophy. In this context, the goals of this thesis are to describe Frege's place in the analytic philosophy, to show the relation between his philosophy and dominant doctrine of his time, and to explain his understanding of logic and language.
