Özet

Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nun tasfiyesinden sonra kurulan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devleti'nin modernleşme süreci; eskinin reddi, yeni olanın iddiasıyla, milliyetçilik, muhafazakârlık ve militarizm ekseninde inşa edilen ve Kemalizm olarak da soyutlanan resmi ideolojisiyle eşgüdümlü bir şekilde hem devleti hem de ulusu kurmayı gerektiren devlet ve milleti örtüştürme odaklı bir ulus devletleşme sürecidir. Ulus devletin kurulumunda, imparatorluğun geniş, heterojen ve ümmet toplumuna dayalı yapısının milliyetçilik odaklı dar, homojen, tekçi bir“milli”kimliğe dönüştürülmesi ve iktidarın buradan kaynaklanması gerektiği fikri sınıfsal, etnik, dinsel ya da cinsiyetle tanımlanan bazı toplumsal kategorileri farklı projelerle, farklı biçimlerde dışlamış veya devlet tanımı içine girmelerine bazı sınırlamalar getirmiştir. Bu politikalar bazı kimlikler için inkâr, asimilasyon ve/veya etnik-dinsel temizlik projeleri olurken bazıları için ise daha örtük şekillerde; kamusal alandan dışlama, ikincil kılma gibi proje ve pratikler şeklinde gelişmiştir. Bu tez çalışmasında, cumhuriyetin kamusal alandan dışlama, ikincil kılma gibi proje ve pratiklerin uygulandığı cinsiyet rejimi, yani resmi ideoloji için milliyetçilik, muhafazakârlık ve militarizm kadar önemli bir kurucu unsur olduğu çoğu zaman göz ardı edilen toplumsal cinsiyeti düzlemi, başka bir deyişle Türkiye Cumhuriyetinin modernleşme ve ulus devletleşme projesinde kadınlara ne olduğu sorunsalı ele alınmaktadır.

The modernization process of The Republic of Turkey, which was established after the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire, has been necessitated to construct both of state and nation, in coordination with the official ideology called as Kemalism constructed on the axis of nationalism, conservatism and militarism, is the process of the nation-state formation. In the establishment of the nation state, the idea that, the broad, heterogeneous and ummah society-based structure of the empire should be transformed into a narrow, homogeneous, single“national”identity based on nationalism and the sovereignty should originate from it, has excluded the social categories defined by class, ethnic, religious or gender by different projects and different forms, or limitated their inclusion in the definition of the state. These policies are denials, assimilation and / or ethnic-religious cleansing projects for some identities, while for others are more latent forms; exclusion from the public sphere and giving secondary status. In this thesis, the gender regime that has performed project and practices by the republic to exclude from the public sphere, and to give secondary status; the gender regime ignored as much important constituent element as nationalism, conservatism and militarism for the official ideology; in the nation-state formation and the modernization of the Republic of Turkey what has happened to women will be examined.
