Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı, tarih öğretiminde kurgu dışı ticari tarih kitaplarının bir materyal olarak kullanımının öğrencilerin akademik başarıları, derse yönelik tutumları üzerindeki etkisini belirlemek ve bu tür kitapların kullanımı konusunda öğrencilerin görüşlerini ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmada, karma yöntem desenlerinden açımlayıcı sıralı desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel boyutunda yarı deneysel desen kullanılmış ve çalışma grubunu Ankara ilinde bulunan bir devlet okulunun 9. sınıfında öğrenim gören toplam 65 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Bu öğrencilerin 33'ü deney, 32'si kontrol grubunda yer almıştır. Araştırmanın nitel boyutunda ise odak grup görüşmesinden yararlanılmış ve çalışma grubunu deney grubunda yer alan 30 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırmaya ilişkin uygulama, 2016-2017 eğitim öğretim yılının güz döneminde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Uygulama sürecinde toplam 5 hafta (10 ders saati) 9. sınıf Tarih Öğretim Programında yer alan Uygarlığın Doğuşu ve İlk Uygarlıklar ünitesi deney grubunda ders kitabının yanında yardımcı materyal olarak kurgu dışı ticari kitaplar ile kontrol grubunda ise sadece ders kitabı ile işlenmiştir. Araştırmada nicel verilerin toplanmasında akademik başarı testi, tarih dersine yönelik tutum ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Nicel verilerin analizinde; betimsel istatistikler, bağımlı ve bağımsız örneklem t-testi, Kruskal-Wallis testi ve Mann-Whitney U testi kullanılmıştır. Nitel verilerin toplanmasında görüşme formu kullanılmış ve elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz yöntemi ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmanın nicel ve nitel boyutundan elde edilen bulgular ışığında, kurgu dışı ticari kitapların kullanımının öğrencilerin akademik başarılarında olumlu bir etkisinin olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel boyutunda deney ve kontrol grubunun tarih dersine yönelik tutumları ölçülmüş ve her iki grubun tarih dersine yönelik genel olarak orta düzeyde olumlu ve benzer tutuma sahip olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel boyutundan elde edilen bulgulara göre deney ve kontrol grubunun tarih dersine yönelik tutum puanlarının birbirine yakın olduğu tespit edildiğinden, kurgu dışı ticari kitapların öğrencilerin derse yönelik tutumlarında anlamlı bir etki yaratmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel boyutunda deney ve kontrol grubunun derse yönelik tutum puanlarının birbirine yakın olmasına rağmen nitel boyutunun bulgularında deney grubunda yer alan öğrencilerin büyük bir kısmının tarih öğretiminde kurgu dışı ticari kitapların kullanımının derse yönelik tutumlarında olumlu yönde etkilerine ilişkin görüş bildirdikleri görülmüştür. Araştırmada ulaşılan sonuçlar ışığında tarih öğretiminde kurgu dışı ticari kitapların kullanımının özellikle öğrencilerin derse yönelik tutumlarına etkisi konusunda deneysel sürecin daha uzun süreli tasarlandığı araştırmaların yapılması önerilmiştir.

The objective of this study is to determine the effects of the use of trade non-fiction trade books education materials on the academic success and attitudes of students for the lesson and to find out the opinions of students on the use of such books. Explanatory sequential design among the mixed method designs was used in the study. Semi-experimental design was used in the quantitative aspect of the study, and the 65 students in total who were being educated in the 9th year of a state school in Ankara province constituted the study group. Of these students, 33 were included in the experimental group while 32 were included in the control group. In the qualitative section of the study however, an interview was carried out with the focus group, and this group included the 30 students from the experimental group. Application related to the study was implemented in the fall semester of the 2016-2017 academic year. During this application, the units“The Rise of Civilization and The First Civilizations”included in the History Education Program for the 9th grade for 5 weeks (10 course hours) in total were given to the experimental group using the formal text book and non-fiction trade books as the auxiliary material, while the same was given to the control group using only the formal text book. Academic success test and the attitude scale for the history lessons were used when collecting quantitative data of the study. Descriptive statistics, t-test for dependent and nondependent samples, Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney U test were used for the analysis of quantitative data. The interview form was used for the collection of qualitative data, and the data obtained were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. In the light of the findings obtained from the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the study, it was concluded that use of non-fiction trade books has positive effects on the academic success of students. In the quantitative section of the study, attitudes of experimental and control groups for history lessons were measured, and it was concluded that both groups had medium-level positive attitudes for the history lessons, which were similar to each other. In the quantitative section of the study, since the attitude scores of the experimental and control groups for history lessons were close to each other, it was concluded that the non-fiction trade books did not create significant effects on the attitudes of students for the course. Based on the findings of the quantitative section of the study however, although the attitude scores of students in experimental and control groups for history lessons were close to each other, it was seen that majority of the students in the experimental group stated opinions to the effect that use of non-fiction trade books had positive effects on their attitudes for history lessons. In the light of the findings obtained in the study, it is recommended that studies designed with longer periods for the investigation of the positive effects of non-fiction trade books in history education particularly on the attitudes of students for lessons should be carried out.
