Özet

Destinasyon imajı, turizm literatüründeki en popüler araştırma konularından biridir. Turistlerin seyahat kararı öncesi, gitmeyi düşündükleri yerle ilgili olarak zihinlerinde oluşan bir algı olan destinasyon imajı, destinasyonlarının rekabet edebilirliğinde önemli bir unsurdur. Çünkü destinasyon imajı, turistlerin bir destinasyonu tekrar ziyaret etme eğilimini ve başka kişilere tavsiye etme davranışını doğrudan etkiler. Bu araştırmada Sinop ili destinasyon imajının üniversite öğrencileri perspektifinden belirlenmesi ve öğrencilerin Sinop destinasyonuna ilişkin olumlu ve olumsuz algılarının ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu kapsamda kolayda örnekleme yöntemi kullanılarak 501 Sinop Üniversitesi öğrencisinden anket tekniği ile veri toplanmıştır. Sonuçlar, öğrencilerin Sinop şehri imaj algısının pek de olumlu olmadığını göstermektedir. Çalışmada Sinop imajı ile ilgili olarak şehir güvenliği, tarihi ve coğrafi değer, şehir halkı, sağlık, konaklama ve temizlik imkanları, ulaşım imkanları, kültür, sanat ve spor etkinlikleri ve eğlence ve alışveriş imkanları önceliğinde olmak üzere yedi boyut belirlenmiştir. Araştırma, öğrencilerin Sinop şehrini tarihi ve coğrafi kaynaklar yönünden görülmeye değer, çok sakin ve güvenli bir şehir olarak gördüklerini, bununla birlikte şehir halkı, Sinop'un sağlık, konaklama ve temizlik imkanları, ulaşım, eğlence ve alışveriş imkanları, kültür, sanat ve spor etkinlikleri açısından pek de olumlu bulmadıklarını göstermektedir.

Destination image is one of the most popular research topics in tourism literature. The destination image, which is a perception in the minds of tourists before the travel decision, about the destination, is an important element in the competitiveness of the destination. Because the destination image directly affects the tourists' revisit intentions a destination and the recommendation behaviors. In this study, it is aimed to determine the destination image of Sinop province from the perspectives of university students and to reveal the positive and negative perceptions of students about Sinop destination. In this context, data were collected from 501 university students studying at Sinop Üniversitesi by using the convenience sampling method. The results show that the students' perception towards Sinop destination is not positive. In this study, seven dimensions have been determined regarding the image of Sinop. These are security of the city, historical and geographical resources, local people, healthcare, transportation, accommodation and clean-up facilities, culture, art and sports activities and entertainment and shopping opportunities in the city. The research indicated that the students perceive that Sinop is a very peaceful and safe city, worth seeing in terms of historical and geographical resources. However, the students' image perceptions towards local people, healthcare, transportation, accommodation, clean-up, entertainment and shopping facilities, culture, art and sports activities are not positive.
