Özet
Bu çalışma, David Hume'un bilgi felsefesini temel alarak onun varlık anlayışı üzerine bir araştırmadır. Bu yüzden, öncelikle onun bilgi kuramı ele alınmıştır. Onun bilgi teorisi, empirist yönleriyle ele alınır. Bilginin oluşumu, bütün zihinsel süreçler, iki ayrı bilgi türü, kesin ve ihtimal bilgi ortaya koyulmuştur. Böylece varlık sorunlarının tartışılmasına zemin açılmış olur. Hume'un varlık anlayışı hem bilgi teorisi ekseninde hem de varlığa yönelik sormuş olduğu sorular çerçevesinde incelenmiştir. Bu tür bir incelemeyle Hume'un varlığa, töze dair yaklaşımı çözümlemeye çalışılacaktır. Bu inceleme, algılarla başlayarak töz düşüncesi ve Tanrı kanıtlamalarıyla son bulacaktır. İnceleme sonucunda görülecektir ki, töz fikrine dair hiçbir duyusal algımız yoktur. Töz ne iç duyum izleminden ne de dış duyum izleminden türemiştir. Hume'a göre, töz, belirli niteliklerin toplamından başka bir şey değildir.

This study is a study on the understanding of Hume's philosophy of existence based on the philosophy of knowledge. Therefore, his theory of knowledge is primarily addressed. His theory of knowledge is deal with in empiric aspects. The formation of knowledge, all mental processes, two kinds of knowledge, definite and probable knowledge have been revealed. Thus, the ground for discussion of the problems of existence is oponed. Hume's understanding of existence is studied both on the axis of knowledge theory and within the framework of the questions he asked about existence. With this kind of examination, Hume's approach to existence, substance will be attempt to solve. This examination begins with perceptions and ends with substance thought and proofs of God It will be seen as a result of examination that we have no sensory perception of the idea of substance. That is to say, substance is derived neither from internal sensation monitoring nor from external sensation monitoring. According to Hume, substance is nothing but the sum of certain qualities.
