Özet
Amaç: Bu çalışmada altıncı sınıf öğrencilerinin matematik dersinde kesirlere yönelik sözel problemleri şekil çizme stratejisi ile çözme becerilerini incelemek, problem çözme sürecinde öğrencilerin yaptıkları hataları ve yaşadıkları zorlukları belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Araştırma 2017-2018 eğitim-öğretim yılının ikinci döneminde Doğu Anadolu Bölgesinin bir ilindeki devlet okulunun altıncı sınıfında öğrenim gören 40 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın veri toplama araçları araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen kesirlerle ilgili 10 sözel problemden oluşan Problem Çözme Testi (PÇT) ve klinik mülakat görüşme formudur. Her iki veri toplama aracından elde edilen veriler içerik analizine tabi tutulmuştur. Bulgular: Verilerin analizi sonucunda altıncı sınıf öğrencilerinin kesirlerle ilgili sözel problemleri şekil çizme stratejisi ile çözme başarılarının oldukça düşük olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin problemde verilen ve istenenleri göz ardı etme, problemdeki sözel ifadeyi şekle aktaramama, anahtar kelimelere odaklanarak hata yapma ve çözüm için gerekli şekli çizememe gibi yetersizlikleri olduğu görülmüştür. Sonuç: Öğrencilerin kesirlerle ilgili sözel problemleri anlamada, problemdeki verilere uygun şekli çizmede, doğru işleme karar vermede zorluk yaşadıkları tespit edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin problemde dikkatsiz ve rastgele işlem yapma, stratejiyi doğru uygulayamama, problemi yanlış yorumlama gibi yetersizlikleri olduğu görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin kesirlerle ilgili sözel problemlerde problemi tam olarak anlamadıkları, verilenleri ve istenenleri göz ardı ettikleri, soruyu yanlış bir şekilde anladıkları ve bundan dolayı çözüm yapamadıkları ya da hata yaptıkları görülmüştür.

Purpose: The present study aimed to investigate the ability of sixth grade students to solve word problems with the figure strategy in mathematics course and identify the mistakes and difficulties experienced by the students in the problem solving process. Method: This study was carried out with 40 sixth grade students studying on a middle schol in the second semester of 2017-2018 academic terms in one of Eastern Anatolia Region great scaled city of Turkey. In this research, case study method which is one of the qualitative research methods was used. Data collection tools of the study are the Problem Solving Test consisting of 10 word problems related to fractions and clinical interview form developed by the researcher. The data obtained from both data collection tools were subjected to content analysis. Findings: As a result of data analysis, we found that 6th grade students had very low success in solving word problems with fractions. We detected that students had inadequacies such as ignorin what was given and requested in the problem, not being able to translate the verbal expression in the problem, making mistakes by focusing on keywords and not drawing diagram necessary for solution. Result: We detected in understanding Word problems wirh fractions, drawing a proper form according to the data in the problem and deciding on the right procedures. Results show that students have inadequacies such as not focusing on what is given in the problem and what is asked, failing to apply the strategy correctly, and misinterpreting the problem. It was observed that students did not fully understand the problem in word problems related to fractions, ignore the given and asked questions, understand the question incorrectly and as a result of this, could not figure out a solution or make mistakes.
