Özet

İngilizce'nin temel sistemini deyimsel fiiller olmadan anlamak zordur. Deyimsel fiiller İngilizce dilinde önemli bir rol oynadığından, öğrencilerimize cümlelerde doğru tonlamalarını öğretmek esastır. Deyimsel fiillerin tonlamasıyla ilgili ana soru, vurgunun fiil, parçacık ve cümlelerdeki diğer kelimeler üzerindeki yerleşimi ve dağılımı ile ilgilidir. Bu araştırma Eskişehir'de bir devlet ortaokulunun sekizinci sınıf kademesinde okumakta olan 30 öğrenciyle yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın amacı bu öğrencilerin deyimsel fiilli cümlelerdeki ögelerin hangisinin doğru vurgu aldığını algılama problemlerini analiz etmektir. Her biri 10 cümle içeren özne, nesne, fiil, parçacık ve ayrılabilir deyimsel fiil olarak 5 farklı kategoriden oluşan 50 soruluk yazılı çoktan seçmeli test titizlikle hazırlanmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı doğrultusunda, öğrencilere önce ön-test yapılmış ardından konuyla ilgili 5 saatlik bir eğitim verilip, post-test yapılmıştır. Veriler toplandıktan sonra SPSS'e girilerek, Pair t Test ile analizler yapılmıştır. 5 kategoride yer alan ögelerin her birinin eğitim öncesi ve eğitim sonrası sonuçları karşılaştırılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre kategorilerin bazılarında eğitimin işe yaradığı görülmüştür.

It is difficult to comprehend the basis system of English without phrasal verbs. Since the phrasal verbs play an important part in English language, it is essential to teach their correct intonation in sentences to our students. The main question about the intonation of phrasal verbs concerns the placement and distribution of stress on the verb, the particle and the other words in the sentences. This research was conducted with 30 students who were studying at the eighth grade level of the Secondary School in Eskisehir. The aim of the study is to analyze the problems of these students' perception of which elements in sentences with phrasal verbs receive the correct stress. The 50-question written comprehensive multiple choice test, consisting of 5 different categories as subject, object, verb, preposition and seperable phrasal verb, each containing 10 sentences, has been meticulously prepared. For the purpose of the study, the students were first pre-tested and then after a 5-hours training on the subject, the post test was conducted. After the data was collected, SPSS was entered and analyses were made with Pair T test. The pre-and post-training results of each of the 5 categories were compared. According to the results, some of the categories showed that training worked.
