Özet
Bu çalışma, cep telefonları tarafından yayılan elektromanyetik alanın (EMA) hipokampusun piramidal nöronları üzerindeki olası etkilerine odaklanmak ve bu olumsuz etkilerin azaltılmasında baobab (BA) ve çörek otunun (ÇO) rolünü değerlendirmek üzere tasarlanmıştır. Çalışmamızda 12 haftalık 56 adet Wistar albino cinsi erkek sıçan kullanıldı. Sıçanlar rastgele olarak her grup yedi sıçandan oluşmak üzere sekiz gruba ayrıldı. Kontrol (Kont), BA ve ÇO grupları EMA'ya maruz bırakılmadı. Sham grubu EMA'ya maruz bırakılmadan EMA sisteminde tutuldu. EMA + BA, EMA + ÇO, EMA + BA + ÇO ve EMA grupları, 28 gün boyunca her gün, günde 60 dakika 900 MHz EMA'ya maruz bırakıldı. Sıçan hipokampusunun cornu ammonis (CA)'daki piramidal nöronların sayısı, optik parçalama tekniği kullanılarak hesaplandı. Histopatolojik değişiklikler ışık ve elektron mikroskobu ile değerlendirildi. Ayrıca, katalaz ve süperoksit dismutaz enzimlerin aktivitesi kan serum örneklerinde değerlendirildi. The present study was designed to focus on the possible effects of the electromagnetic field (EMF) emitted by the mobile phones on the pyramidal neurons of hippocampus and to evaluate the role of Adansonia digitata (AD) and Nigella sativa (NS) in the decrease of these adverse effects. Fifty-six, 12-weeks-old Wistar albino male rats were used for the present study. The rats were randomly divided into eight groups; each group consisted of seven rats. The Control (Cont), AD and NS groups were not exposed to EMF. Sham group was kept in the EMF exposure system without being exposed to the EMF. EMF+AD, EMF+NS, EMF+AD+NS and EMF groups were exposed to 900 MHz EMF for 28 days, 60 minutes (min) per day. The number of the pyramidal neurons in the cornu ammonis (CA) of the hippocampus was estimated by using the optical fractionator technique. Histopathological changes were evaluated by light and electron microscopes. Moreover, the activities of the catalase and superoxide dismutase enzymes were also estimated in the blood serum samples.
