Özet

SUMMARY Management is the art of using concepts, principles, models, techniques and theories that are presented by the discipline of mana gement in a systematic and sophisticated way in the course of plan ning, organizing, executing, coordinating and supervising the activiti es that are scheduled to be materialized. Like other organizations, tourism companies also need the ma nagement functions that have just been specified on the above given definition. The determination of the problems that would emerge wit hin the framework of management functions and the equipment of the managers with the tools that would help them to solve these problems would improve the efficiency and the productivity of the to urism companies. Following our research that has aimed the managers to realize the problems that would emerge in especially tourism companies wit hin the framework of management functions, it has been determined that in a great deal of these companies there are problems at different levels regarding planning, organizing, executing, coordinating and su pervising functions. It has also been determined that there are also problems at different levels regarding making decisions and commu nication issues that would be a subject matter in the course imple mentation of these functions. Furthermore, it has been examined vthat some of the tourism company managers are already aware of these problems whereas some not. Another result was that some ma nagers have never used these techniques sufficiently though they were conscious of these techniques. It is clear that there are crucial functional management prob lems in tourism companies. But at this point what important is to what extent these problems are known by the related managers and how would they be trained about these techniques that are able to be used in solving problems. On this research, we have aimed the mana- ers to acquire a new point of view that they can use in determining the problems that are related to management functions in tourism companies and accordingly provide them with the techniques they can use in solving these problems. vi
