The effect of religious dogmatism is widely apparent in many aspects of social and cultural life and has a remarkable influence on shaping, deconstructing, and reforming the ways in which the intercultural communication takes place. The identity development and performance through socialization is manifested through communication processes, and the contrasting verbal and nonverbal interaction signs cause the cross-cultural dialogues to stumble. As the research suggests, the hierarchical substructures constituted through power and knowledge display bring about the emergence of the patriarchal orders which result in the institutionalized sexism and construction of dogmatic gender roles manifested in many aspects of communication. The research hypothesizes that religious substructures of a larger society foster specific norms, and individuals will adapt to them even though they are restrictive and discriminatory norms. For instance, individuals who belong to a society which practices female inferiority will develop the same mental structure and will communicate accordingly. In other words, people are inclined to conform to their groups and perform discriminatory behaviors to be accepted by their group. Through the act of normative conformity, gender performance through stereotype beliefs against specific gender identities is hindered, and the dogmatic indoctrination of gender roles function as an obstructing factor in intercultural communication. For this reason, the power display as in constructing normative communicational behaviors and gendered attributions as in performing religious identities are analyzed based on social constructionism, Foucauldian discourse, and other prominent theories of communication, identity, and culture. The research findings will suggest the roadblocks in intercultural integration arising from the identity collision and the participant analysis will prove that the violation of desired impressions results in confusion, anxiety, and uncertainty in the cross-cultural contact.
