Özet
Bu çalışmada lise öğrencilerinin anne eğitim düzeyi ve okul türü değişkenlerine göre umut düzeylerini incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Ankara'nın Mamak ilçesindeki 729 lise öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada nicel veriler için Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Sürekli Umut Ölçeği, Durumluk Umut Ölçeği; nitel veriler için Odak Grup Görüşme Formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda lise öğrencilerinin sürekli ve durumluk umutlarının cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi ve anne eğitim seviyesine göre farklılaşmadığı, okul tercihlerine ve okul türüne göre farklılaştığı görülmüştür. Anadolu Lisesi ve Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi öğrencilerinin sürekli ve durumluk umutlarının okul türüne göre farklılaştığı görülmüştür. Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi, Spor Lisesi ve Özel Anadolu Lisesi öğrencilerinin durumluk umutlarının okul türüne göre farklılaştığı bulunmuştur. Anne eğitim seviyesi ve okul türü değişkenlerinin lise öğrencilerinin umut düzeylerine ortak etkisi anlamlı bulunmamıştır. Çalışmanın nitel kısmında okulun ve aile gelir düzeyinin lise öğrencilerinin umutlarına etkisini, umutlarını arttırmak için nelere ihtiyaç duyduklarını incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Anadolu Lisesi ve Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi öğrencileriyle yapılan odak grup görüşmelerinde toplanan veriler, betimsel kodlama yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Öğrenciler, okulun umuda etkisini okulun statüsü, okuldaki sosyal ilişkiler, başarı algısı ve okul tercihleri ile açıklamıştır. Öğrencilerin, aile gelir düzeyinin umuda etkisini hedef belirleme ve hedeflerin ulaşılabilirliği, aileye duyulan güven ve motivasyonla açıkladıkları; umutlarını arttırmak için sosyal desteğe, maddi desteğe ve içsel motivasyona ihtiyaç duydukları görülmüştür.

This study aims to examine the levels of hope in high school students in relation to the variables of mother's education level and type of school. The working group of this study consists of 729 high school students from the county of Mamak, Ankara. In this study, quantitative data is obtained through tools such as Personal Information Form, Dispositional Hope Scale, and State Hope Scale; while qualitative data is collected through Focus Group Interview Forms. The study found that dispositional and state hope levels of high school students did not have significant variation according to gender, social and mother's education level, but rather did vary according to the preferences and types of schools. It's been observed that both state and dispositional hope level of students differ according to the type of school they attend, such as Anatolian, Technical and Vocational schools. Whereas only the state hope levels of students attending Fine Arts, Sports and Private Anatolian High Schools is differentiated. The mutual effect of mother's education levels and school type variables has been found not to be significantly effective for high school students. The aim in the qualitative aspect of the study has been to examine the effects of school and familial financial status to the level of hope of the students, and to analyze what they need to increase their hopes. Descriptive coding method was used to analyze the data accumulated through the focus group interviews with Anatolian, Vocational, Technical Anatolian high school students. The students explained the effects of school on hope was related to the status of the school, social relations within the school, the perception of success and their school preferences. The students explained that their familial income levels have an effect on setting their goals, and the attainability of these goals, the trust and motivation they have and feel towards their families; and they stated that they needed social and economic support, as well as inner motivation to increase their hopes.
