This thesis was conducted on the basis of analyzing the impact of the Ottoman imperial legacy in current Turkish soft power and public diplomacy strategies on Bosnia and Herzegovina (Hereafter, BiH) since 2002. Bosnia and Herzegovina occupies specific place for Turkey's policy makers is due to common Ottoman history and religious and cultural ties with the region. Therefore, the Ottoman imperial legacy and its interpretations are the main source of Turkish perception and policies in BiH. By using the Ottoman legacy, Turkey aims reestablishing its influence in former Ottoman lands. In order to analyze to impact of Ottoman legacy in current Turkish policies to BiH, the thesis concentrates on the Turkish foreign policy towards the country, analyzing and presenting Turkish soft power and public diplomacy institutions and their actions in regards to instrumentalization of the Ottoman legacy. This study aims exploring the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and argues that Turkey's soft power and public diplomacy strategies have mainly positive outcomes only in Bosniak side. The similarity of understanding Islam, common cultural ties, glorifying the Ottoman period and in some extend kinship relations can be useful for Bosniak society. However, what is an advantage for Turkey's policies for Bosniaks is a disadvantage for Non-Muslim population of the country and creates obstacles and suspicion for Turkish actions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
