Özet

-76- SUMMARY Single-rooted endodontically treaated teeth with flared canals and thin walls near the cervical part of the tooth present a challenge to the restorative dentist. The restorative dentist must try to reinforce the remaining tooth structure while at the same time achieve the greatest retention and resistance form from selected post. The main purpose of this study was to assess the post retention and resistance fracture of restored endodontically treated teeth with three different methods in single-rooted teeth with flared canals. Freshly extracted 45 maxillary central incisor, 45 maxillary and mandibular canines were used. The crowns of these teeth were removed 1 mm above the cementoenamel junction. The root canals were flared to simulate teeth weakened as a result of caries or endodontic therapy. At the first part of the study 45 maxillary and mandibular canines were instrumented to a depth of 1 1 mm to receive size 3 Dentatus Classic Post (Weissman Technology Jakobsdalsvagen 14-16, s-126 53 Stockholm Sweden). Prepared teeth were divided into three equal groups randomly. 3 cementation systems used were: Zinsphospate cement (Adhesor Dental D.S Cernokostelecka 100 Praha), Panavia 21 ex (Kuraray Co. Ltd, 1-R-39, Umeda Kita-ku Osaka 530 Japan), and Tetric Light-cured composite resin (Vivadent Schaan Liechtenstein) ABC dual cure resin cement (vlvadent Schaan Liechtenstein) with light transmitting posts. The posts were subjected to uniaxial tensile force in a testing machine until post separation occured. Tetric light-cured composite resin and ABC Dual cure cement with light transmitting posts had significantly greater separation forces than posts cemented with any of the other cements (p< 0.05).-77- At the second part, 45 maxillary central incisor were instrumented to a depth of 8mm to receive size 4 Dentatus Classic Posts. Prepared teeth were divided into three equal groups randomly. 3 cementation systems used were: Zincphospate cement, Panavia 21 ex, and Tetric Light-cured composite resin ABC dual cure resin cement with light transmitting posts. Cemented posts were loaded in a testing machine (Lloyd LRX) with a gradually increasing force at a 60- degree angle to the long axis of the root until the root fractured. Tetric light- cured composite resin and ABC dual cure cement with light transmitting posts, were significantly more resistant to fracture than other cements (P< 0.05).
