Özet (Çeviri)

Under President Xi Jinping, China is making great economic strides forward, and this is now supplemented by the Belt and Road Initiative. The Belt and Road Initiative is his landmark economic policy, which encompasses more than 4.4 billion people and cumulative GDP of more than US$ 21 trillion. The main aim of the Belt and Road Initiative is to increase trade and connectivity not just between China and the neighbouring countries, but also between other countries with each other. Furthermore, Asia and Africa are struggling when it comes to infrastructure investment, and this is where President Xi's Belt and Road Initiative comes into play. The main purpose of the Belt and Road Initiative is to increase trade and connectivity between the nations and hence promote mutual development and winwin cooperation. The Belt and Road Initiative is based on the Ancient Silk Road and has two major diversions, first is the land-based silk road, and the second is the maritime silk road. The BRI is geared towards encouraging greater connectivity, economic flow, the growth of job opportunities, investment, consumption, cultural exchange, and the spirit of regional cooperation between Asia, Europe, and Africa by creating jointly built trade routes emulating the ancient Silk Road. This where Turkey comes in as a critical player. Turkey is at the center of three continental landmasses, i.e., Asia, Africa, and Europe, and as such is perfectly poised to act as the bridge to all these places. Hence, it deserves a special place in the Belt and Road Initiative. Turkey and China signed a iv Memorandum of Understanding on the Belt and Road Initiative, and are developing plans to further study the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on Turkey. Turkey, on its behalf, wants to be the global transport hub for outward trade arising out of Belt and Road projects, trade and connectivity. Based on the conclusion and recommendations of my paper, I would recommend Turkey and China to implement projects as soon as possible for the fruitful future of the Belt and Road Initiative, along with the Middle Corridor Plan. Further, both governments should establish a hotline on Belt and Road Initiative so as so to better coordinate activities and plans in the Middle East Region.
