Özet (Çeviri)

Although the longitudinal effect of parental investment on adolescents' global identity has been examined over the years, there is limited knowledge on the role of best-friend investment on global identity. It is still unclear whether the effect of parental investment or best-friend investment is more salient than each other on the facets of global identity dimensions, which are commitment and reconsideration during the late adolescence period. Hence, the present study aimed to explore the effect of family and best-friend investment on commitment and reconsideration in the specific time periods. It is hypothesized that parental and best-friend investment will be associated with late adolescents' commitment but not reconsideration of commitment. A moderator effect of gender on the relationship between family and best-friend investment on commitment and reconsideration was also examined. Further, it is hypothesized that having a female gender will be related to the moderator effects for the associations between parental investment and best-friend investment on identity, and it leads to commitment but not reconsideration. This study was conducted in a quantitative research on the basis of the Utrecht-Management of Identity Scale (U-MICS) and Rusbult investment questionnaire. Participants of this study comes from wave 1 (early adolescence) and wave 5 (late adolescence) on the basis of the CONAMORE longitudinal study among 1038 adolescents (488 males and 550 females), between 13 and 17 years old. Results indicated that while parental investment predicts identity commitment but not reconsideration, best-friend investment neither predicts identity commitment nor reconsideration in late adolescence. In addition, the moderating role of gender in the association between parental and best-friend investment on adolescent's identity formation was not found. These findings provide insight on the identity formation of adolescents' by showing that parental investment is more considerable than best-friend investment for an adolescent's identity formation.
