Özet (Çeviri)
This paper examines the impact of police presence on crime at the University of Southern California. The expansion of the police patrol zone at the USC provides a natural experiment to examine the effects that police visibility has on crime rates. In this paper, I used LAPD's crime data and USC's shapefiles to determine whether after the patrol zone expansion crime dropped in the new areas where police did not patrol before the expansion. The change in crime counts in the old patrol zones compared to the crime counts in the new zone was estimated. The results show that crime in the new patrol zone increased by 10% after the expansion but this is not a statistically significant difference from the old zone.
