Sustainable Design Orienting Concept for Distributed Food for Public Primary Schools in Izmir/ Turkey within Sustainable Product-Service System methodologies applied. Sustainable food systems in schools have become a key issue and worldwide, in terms of health, obesity, environmental and socio-ethical sustainability etc. The current situation in Turkey about agriculture and food system; even though it has favorable geographical conditions and climate, largely arable lands, abundant water supplies and a special place in the world about agriculture; the issue of sustainable food has not been given enough importance and no significant improvement has been achieved (Izmir Ticaret Borsası, 2014). At present, the studies in Turkey about sustainable food systems, although small, are growing and have great potential. However, most people and even organizations don't have a knowledge about the benefits of sustainable food systems and its environmental and socioethical effects. The purpose of this thesis is to conduct an in-depth study on sustainability and sustainable food, comprehend the school food system in Turkey, find out the possibilities about sustainability for schools, interview with the school principles, teachers, students and parents, understand their working and supply system, explore the potential of possible stakeholders and design sustainable food service system for children at primary school in Urla, Izmir, resulting to be an effective tool to raise environmental awareness for children and families.
