Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, matematik tarihi kullanarak modelleme etkinlikleri ile geometrik kavramların incelenmesidir. Çalışma 2021-2022 Eğitim Öğretim yılı birinci döneminde bir devlet okuluna devam eden 7. sınıf öğrencilerle (n=30) yapılmıştır. Araştırmada karma araştırma yöntemlerinden iç içe karma desen kullanılmıştır. 7. sınıf geometri kazanımlarına uygun olarak araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan matematik tarihi temelli modelleme etkinlikleri araştırmacı tarafından çalışma grubuna 8 hafta uygulanmıştır. Uygulama sürecinde öğrencilerin yazılı çalışma kâğıtları ile veriler toplanmıştır. Uygulama süreci öncesinde ve süreç sonunda çalışma grubuna geometri kaygı ölçeği uygulanmış, ayrıca öğrenci görüşleri alınmıştır. Nitel verilerin analizinde ise nitel analiz yöntemlerinden içerik analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin geometri kaygı düzeylerinin azaldığı ve öğrencilerin geometri görüşlerinin olumlu yönde değiştiği tespit edilmiştir.

The aim of this study is to examine geometric concepts and modeling activities using the history of mathematics. The study was conducted with 30 7th grade students attending a public school in the first semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. In the research, nested mixed design, one of the mixed research methods, was used. Mathematics history-based modeling activities prepared by the researcher in accordance with the 7th grade geometry achievements were applied by the researcher to the study group for 8 weeks. During the implementation process, data were collected with the students' written worksheets. Before and after the application process, the geometry concern scale was applied to the study group, and students' opinions were also taken. Statistics package program was used in the analysis of quantitative data. In the analysis of qualitative data, content analysis, one of the qualitative analysis methods, was performed. As a result of the research, it was determined that the geometry concerns levels of the students decreased and the geometry views of the students changed positively.
