Özet
Çalışmamızın amacı Phaedrus'un şiirlerindeki metaforları kavramsal metafor kuramı çerçevesinde çözümlemek ve bu sayede söz konusu şiirlere ilişkin yeni bir yorum perspektifi sunmaktır. Kuramsal çerçeve, fabula geleneği ve şiir incelemeleri olmak üzere üç ana bölümden oluşan tezimizin ilk bölümünde Batı'da metaforun tanımını ve kullanımını şekillendiren klasik yaklaşım klasik yazarların sözleriyle sunulduktan sonra kavramsal metafor kuramı açıklanmıştır. Uygulama kısmında fabula yazarı Phaedrus'un şiirleri kavramsal metafor kuramı perspektifinden çözümlenmiş ve fabula geleneğiyle ilişkili özellikleri de açıklanmıştır. Söz konusu şiirlerde genellikle güçlü/güçsüz başta olmak üzere zıt kutupları temsil eden karakterlerin kavramsal metaforlar kapsamında nasıl okunabileceği; hangi soyut alanların hangi somut alanlarla açıklandığı; kompozisyon ve üslup özelliklerinin bu bağlamda anlamı nasıl desteklediği tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır.

The aim of this study is to analyse the metaphors in Phaedrus' poems within the framework of conceptual metaphor theory and thus to offer a new perspective on the poems in question. In the first part of our thesis, which consists of three main sections: theoretical framework, fabula tradition and poetry analyses, the classical approach that shaped the definition and the use of metaphor in the West is presented with the words of classical authors, and then the conceptual metaphor theory is explained. In the application part, the poems of the fabulist Phaedrus were analysed from the perspective of conceptual metaphor theory and their features related to the fabula tradition were also explained. In the poems in question, it has been aimed to determine how the characters representing opposite poles, especially the strong/weak, can be read within the scope of conceptual metaphors; which abstract areas are explained by which concrete areas; how the composition and stylistic features support the meaning in this context.
