Özet

Ülkelerin kalkınmasında etkili olan birçok kaynak vardır. Bu kaynakların en önemlilerinden birisi de beşeri kaynakların içinde bulunan üstün zekâlı ve yetenekli bireylerdir. Bu bireyler, diğer bireylere göre farklı özelliklere sahip olduklarından dolayı farklı bir gelişim göstermektedirler. Bu nedenle eğitim dönemlerinde farklı bir eğitim programına ve ortamına ihtiyaç duyarlar. Türkiye'de devlet bünyesinde bu çocukların eğitimi için kurulan ve her geçen gün yaygınlaşan Bilim ve Sanat Merkezleri (BİLSEM) bulunmaktadır. Bu merkezler proje bazlı eğitimin yaygınlıkla uygulandığı eğitim kurumlarıdır. Bu çalışmanın amacı bu kurumlarda eğitim gören üstün zekâlı ve yetenekli bireylerin coğrafya alanında hazırladıkları proje çalışmaları hakkındaki deneyimlerini ve görüşlerini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Farklı bilim alanı ile ilgili yapılmış ve BİLSEM projelerine odaklanmış araştırmalar mevcuttur. Fakat coğrafya alanı ile ilgili alan yazında boşluk bulunmaktadır. Bu araştırma ile literatürdeki bu boşluk doldurulmaya çalışılmıştır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılmış ve elde edilen veriler fenomolojik desen kullanılarak içerik analizine tabi tutulmuştur. Örneklem grubu amaçlı örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlenmiş ve İstanbul'daki BİLSEM'lerde eğitim gören ve coğrafya projesi hazırlama deneyimi olan 10 öğrencidir. Öğrenciler ile proje hazırlama süreci öncesi, süreci ve sonrası olmak üzere toplam 30 görüşme yapılmıştır. Görüşmeler sonucunda proje hazırlama sürecinin öğrencilere önemli katkılar sağladığı, danışman öğretmenlerin süreçte etkili oldukları, üniversitelerin BİLSEM'lere yeterince destek sağlamadığı ve öğrencilerin yaptıkları çalışmalarla ülkenin ve milletin ihtiyaçlarını karşılamak için gayret ettikleri ve var olan bazı sorunları bu şekilde çözmek istedikleri şeklinde sonuçlara varılmıştır. Bununla beraber öğrencilerin orijinal proje konusu belirlemekte zorlandıkları, kurum dışından yeterince destek alamadıkları ve maddi desteğe ihtiyaç duydukları, ailelerin çocuklara maddi ve manevi destek sundukları, araştırma ortamında bazı araç ve gereçlerin olmadığı veya eksik olduğu sonucuna da varılmıştır. BİLSEM ve üniversitelerin işbirliği yapma gerekliliğinin önemi daha iyi anlaşılmaktadır.

There are many resources that are effective in the development of countries. One of the mostimportant of these resources is the gifted and talented individuals in the human resources. These individuals show different development because they have different characteristics compared to other individuals. For this reason, they need a different education program and environment during their educational lives. In Turkey, there are Science and Art Centers (BİLSEM) , which was established by the government for the education of these gifted and talented individuals, becoming widespread day by day. These centers are educational institutions where project-based education is mostly practiced.The aim of this study is to explain the experiences and opinions of these gifted and talented individuals attending in these centers about the project works they prepared in the field of geography.There are researcheswhich are conducted in different fields of science and focused on BİLSEM projects.However, there is a gap in the literature related to the field of geography. With this research, this gap in the literature has been tried to be filled. In this research, semi-structured interview technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was usedandthe data were subjected to content analysis using a phenomenological design. The sample group was determined by purposive sampling method and consisted of 10 students who were educated in BİLSEMs in Istanbul and who had experience in preparing a geography project. A total of 30 interviews were conducted with the students before, during and after the project preparation process.As a result of the interviews, it was concluded that the project preparation process provided important contributions to the students, the advisory teachers were effective in the process, the universities did not provide enough support to BİLSEM, and the students made an effort to meet the needs of the country and the nation with their work and wanted to solve some existing problems in this way.In addition to this, it was concluded that the students had difficulty in determining the original project topic, they could not get enough support from outside the institution, and they needed financial support, the families of students provided financial and moral support to the children, and some tools and equipment were missing or absent in the research environment.
