Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, Perfetti Sconosciuti (İngilizcede Perfect Strangers) filmindeki kültüre özgü öğelerin bir yeniden çevrim senaryosuna nasıl uyarlandığını ve August Gutt'un (2014) çeviriye uyguladığı bağıntı kuramı çerçevesi kullanılarak nasıl incelenebileceğini araştırmaktır. Bu çalışmada iletişim alanında ortaya çıkmış, çeviriyi bilişsel-edimbilim malzemesi şeklinde ele alan bağıntı kuramı kullanılmaktadır. Bu çerçevenin ışığında bu tez, Perfect Strangers filmindeki kültüre özgü öğelerin Fransızca, Türkçe, Korece ve Çince yeniden çevrimlerde yansıtılan bağlamsal bir etkiyi nasıl oluşturduğunu araştırmaktadır. Araştırma, bu amaca ulaşmak için çevirideki değişimleri doğrudan ya da dolaylı çeviri olarak sınıflandırmak üzere Gutt'ın (2014) bağıntı kuramı kavramlarını kullanmaktadır. Bu nedenle bu tez, Perfect Strangers ve yeniden çevrim senaristlerinin hedeflenen izleyici kitlesi için bağlamsal etkiyi yeniden yaratmak amacıyla kullandıkları alt metin ve üst metinde bulunan göstergeleri incelemektedir. Çalışmanın varsayımı, bağıntı ilkesi bağlamında, insanların iletişimin her yönünde alakalı bilgileri aramaya eğilimli olduklarıdır. Perfect Strangers yeniden çevrimlerinin senaristlerinin, hedef kitlenin kaynak metindeki temel mesajı ve esprileri anlamasına yardımcı olmak için iletişimsel etkiyi vurgulayarak ve kültüre özgü öğeleri kendi izleyicileri için uyarlayarak belirli bir çeviri stratejisi seçtikleri vurgulanmaktadır. Örtüşmeler ve farklılıklar, nitel bir içerik analizi yazılımı olan MAXQDA aracılığıyla kodlanmış ve yorumlanmıştır. Bu tez, sonuç olarak, bağıntı kuramının yeniden yapımlardaki gösterge ve söylem çözümlemesine bir açıklama getirebileceğini savunmakta ve Gutt'un (2014) çeviri stratejilerinin yeniden yapımlarda anlamı iletmek için kullanılan kültüre özgü öğelere nasıl uygulanabileceğini göstermektedir.

The goal of this study is to investigate how the culture-specific items in Perfetti Sconosciuti (Perfect Strangers in English) are appropriated in a remake script and how they can be examined using the relevance theory framework that August Gutt (2014) applied to translation. The pragmatic theory of human communication used in this study emphasizes the cognitive translation principle of relevance. In light of this framework, this thesis explores how the culture-specific items in Perfect Strangers generate a contextual effect that is mirrored in the French, Turkish, Korean and Chinese remakes. This thesis uses Gutt's (2014) RT to classify the shifts in translation as either direct or indirect translation in order to achieve that objective. For this reason, this thesis examines the translation techniques used in the subtitles and semiotics found in the hypotext and paratext of Perfect Strangers and its remakes, which the screenwriters employ to recreate the contextual effect for the intended audience. Presumption of the study is that, in the context of the relevance principle, people are inclined to seek out relevant information in both utterances and context. Through the previously mentioned discussion, it is highlighted that the scriptwriters of Perfect Strangers remakes choose a specific translation strategy by emphasizing the communicative effect and adapting the culture-specific items for their respective audience in order to help the target audience appreciate the underlying message and jokes in the source text. Overlaps and differences are coded and interpreted via MAXQDA, a qualitative content analysis software. This thesis ultimately comes to the conclusion that relevance theory might provide an explanation for the semiotics and discourse analysis in remakes, as well as show how Gutt's (2014) translation strategies could be applied to the culture-specific items used in remakes to convey meaning.
