Özet
Tarihsel süreç içerisinde Malatya; konumu, coğrafyası, iklim koşulları ve arazisinin yaşama elverişli olması ve önemli yol güzergâhları üzerinde olması gibi etmenler ile geçmişten günümüze yerleşim alanı olarak pek çok uygarlık tarafından tercih edilmiş ve kesintisiz kullanılmıştır. Dünyada ve Türkiye'de katlı yapı kavramını gündeme getirmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı nüfus artışı, kentleşme ve teknolojinin gelişmesi ile günümüzde yapımı giderek artan konut gelişimini Malatya kent örneğinde incelemektir. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde Malatya kentine ve konutlara yönelik akademik çalışmalar kapsamlı şekilde taranarak literatür araştırılmış ve çalışmanın kuramsal çerçevesi oluşturulmuştur. Çalışmanın üçüncü bölümünde kentin coğrafi, jeolojik, demografik ve ekonomik yapısı, Tarihsel süreç içerisinde ve gezginlerin anlatımı ile kentin mekânsal yapısı, kentte planlama çalışmaları araştırılmış, kentte konut gelişimini araştırmak üzere bir yöntem önerilmiş, Battalgazi ve Yeşilyurt ilçelerinde alan çalışması için seçilen caddelerde konumlanan konutlar fotoğraflanmış ve mimari projeleri elde edilmiştir. Konutlar yerinde yapılan gözlemlerle analiz edilmiş, mekânsal yapıları tartışılmış, 2000 ve 2024 yıllarına ait Google Earth görüntüleri ile yorumlanmıştır. Çalışmanın dördüncü bölümünde bulgular tartışılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuç bölümünde alan çalışması ve analizlerden elde edilen veriler ile Malatya kentinde konutların günümüzdeki ve gelecekte olası durumu ile konutların kentin gelişimini ne boyutta ve ne yönde değiştirebileceği tartışılmış, mekân organizasyonuna yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur.

In the historical process, Malatya has been preferred and used uninterruptedly by many civilisations as a settlement area from past to present due to factors such as its location, geography, climatic conditions and land being suitable for life and being on important road routes. Population growth, urbanisation and the development of technology have brought the concept of storey buildings to the agenda in the world and in Turkey. The aim of the study is to examine the increasing housing development in the city of Malatya. In the second part of the study, academic studies on the city of Malatya and housing have been extensively reviewed and the theoretical framework of the study has been established. In the third part of the study, the geographical, geological, demographic and economic structure and spatial structure of the city in the historical process and with the narrative of travellers, planning studies in the city were investigated, a method was proposed to investigate the housing development in the city, the houses located on the streets selected for the field study in Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt districts were photographed and architectural projects were obtained. In the third part of the study, the geographical, geological, demographic and economic structure of the city, the spatial structure of the city in the historical process and with the narrative of travellers, planning studies in the city were investigated, a method was proposed to investigate the development of storeyed housing in the city, storeyed housing in the streets selected for fieldwork in Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt districts were photographed and architectural projects were obtained. The houses were analysed through on-site observations, their spatial structures were discussed and interpreted with Google Earth images from 2000 and 2024. In the fourth part of the study, the findings are discussed. In the conclusion part of the study, with the data obtained from the field study and analyses, the current and possible future situation of the houses in Malatya and to what extent and in what direction the houses can change the development of the city are discussed and suggestions for spatial organisation are presented.
