This study was carried out to determine the effects of sumac seed oil supplementation to Japanese quail diets on performance, meat and egg quality, serum and bone biomechanical parameters, carcass and reproductive characteristics during growth and laying periods, 0-6 weeks growth period and 7-19 weeks (3 periods of 28 days) laying period (total 18 weeks). The same experimental plan was used for both periods of the study and 6 diets (6 treatments) containing sumac seed oil at 100, 200, 400, 800, 800 and 1600 mg/kg levels were tested in 30 subgroups with 5 replicates in a random plots experimental plan. For the growth period of the study, 10 day-old chicks (6 treatmentsx5 replicatesx10 quails=300 chicks) were used in each replicate, and for the laying period, a total of 90 animals (3x30=90), 2 females and 1 male, were used from the animals remaining after the animals slaughtered from each subgroup at the end of the growth period. Diets (in finely ground form) and water were given adlibitum and lighting was provided for 23 hours during the growing period and 16 hours during the laying period. Growth period: In the study, diets containing sumac seed oil did not significantly affect the live weight and live weight change, which are growth period performance parameters (P>0.05). However, feed intake of quails is 1-2 months old. Compared to the control diet with other diets except the diets containing sumac seed oil at the level of 100 mg/kg during the week period; 3-4. during the week period, it decreased significantly (P<0.05) compared to the control diet containing 800 mg/kg sumac seed oil and the diet containing 200 mg/kg sumac seed oil. The feed conversion rate of quails improved with diets containing sumac seed oil at the level of 800 mg/kg, on average for the entire trial period (0-6 weeks) (P<0.05). While the effect of the treatments on serum total antioxidant level, triglyceride, AST, glucose, total protein, creatine, albumin, calcium and phosphorus values was statistically insignificant (P>0.05), it was lowest in animals fed with diets containing sumac seed oil at the level of 1600 mg/kg. serum total oxidation level and the highest LDL value were observed (P<0.05). The lowest serum cholesterol value in the trial groups was found to be in the groups containing 200 mg/kg sumac seed oil (P<0.01). Among the dietary sumac seed oil levels, 400 mg/kg level decreased the serum uric acid value (P<0.05), while 1600 mg/kg level increased the serum urea value (P<0.01). In the study, the effect of trial diets on carcass parameters (carcas weight, g; carcass rate, %; back+breast weight, %; thigh+drumstickweight, %; liver weight, %) and meat quality characteristics (pH determination, color analysis, TBA values) was not statistically significant (P>0.05). However, the level of sumac seed oil in the diet did not affect the corticol bone thickness, bone cross-sectional area, bone shear stress and shear energy from the bone biomechanical properties of growing quails statistically significantly (P>0.05). and bone shear force increased significantly (P<0.05). Laying period: During the breeding period of the research, no treatment affected the performance characteristics of quails, such as live weight at the end of the trial, live weight change, viability and egg production; It did not significantly affect the egg quality parameters such as defective egg rate, egg shape index, surface area, specific gravity, shell ratio, shell thickness, shell index, shell density, yolk index and Haugh unit (P>0.05). In the second period of the experiment, egg weight and egg mass increased significantly with diets containing 400 mg/kg sumac seed oil (P<0.05). However, diets containing sumac seed oil at 1600 mg/kg significantly reduced the feed consumption of quails in the 2nd period of the experiment and on average for the entire trial period (P<0.05). The feed conversion rate of quails decreased in the second period of the experiment with diets containing sumac seed oil at the level of 400 mg/kg (P<0.05). In the first period of the experiment, all diets containing sumac seed oil, in the 2nd period of the experiment, with diets containing sumac seed oil at levels of 100 and 200 mg/kg, and in the average of the entire trial period, with diets containing sumac seed oil at levels of 100, 200 and 1600 mg/kg, quails were fed with egg shells. It significantly increased the fracture resistance (P<0.05). In the first period of the experiment, egg albumen index, increased significantly with the addition of 1600 mg/kg sumac seed oil to the diet (P<0.05). In general, the addition of sumac seed oil to the diet increased the egg yolk color L* and b* values of quails and decreased the egg yolk color a* value (P<0.01). Dietary sumac seed oil level did not statistically significantly affect the serum HDL, cholesterol, AST, glucose, GGT, creatine and phosphorus values of serum parameters in breeding quails (P>0.05). In the study, it was determined that the addition of sumac seed oil to the diet significantly reduced the serum total oxidation level value at the 400 mg/kg level, and significantly increased the serum total antioxidant level value at the 800 mg/kg level (P<0.05, P<0.01, respectively). However, with the addition of 100 mg/kg sumac seed oil to the diet, serum triglyceride (P<0.01) and total protein values (P<0.05); While the serum uric acid value (P<0.01) increased significantly with the addition of sumac seed oil at the level of 800 mg/kg to the diet, the serum albumin value decreased significantly (P<0.05) with the addition of sumac seed oil at the level of 400 mg/kg. The effect of the trial diets on the bone biomechanical properties of bone diameter, corticol bone thickness, bone cross-sectional area and bone shear stress in breeding quails was not statistically significant (P>0.05), but the bone shear force and bone shear energy of quails were significant with the diets containing 200 mg/kg sumac seed oil (P<0.01). Diets containing sumac seed oil in breeding quails did not significantly affect the rate of fertilized eggs (P>0.05), but in the 3rd period of the experiment, chick hatching weight was increased with diets containing sumac seed oil at the level of 100 mg/kg; In the second period of the experiment, hatchability was significantly increased with all diets containing sumac seed oil, and hatchability was significantly increased with diets containing sumac seed oil at levels of 100, 200, 400 and 800 mg/kg in the same period (P<0.05). According to these results, it is thought that better feed utilization can be achieved by adding 800 mg/kg sumac seed oil to the diet of growing Japanese quails, however, it is thought that it would be more appropriate to add 1600 mg/kg sumac seed oil to the diet to improve bone biomechanical properties. For breeding Japanese quails, it may be recommended to add 400 mg/kg sumac seed oil to the diet in terms of performance parameters, and 100 mg/kg sumac seed oil to the diet in terms of shell quality and hatching parameters. As a result, in this study, it can be said that sumac seed oil may be a good feed additive for poultry diets in terms of performance, egg quality, hatching parameters and bone biomechanical properties, but more studies are needed to understand this situation more clearly..
