This descriptive study was conducted to determine the relationship between the personality traits of individuals with chronic diseases and the disease process.It was conducted in the emergency and internal medicine department of a public hospital in Istanbul. The study sample consisted of 235 patients with at least one chronic disease between September 2023 and April 2024. Personal Information Form for chronic disease, Chronic Disease Adaptation Scale (CDA) and Ten-Item Personality Scale (TIPS) were collected and analyzed using percentage correlation analysis. The statistical significance level was accepted as 'p<0.05'.Among chronic diseases, hypertension was the most common with 22.1%. According to the results of multiple regression analysis conducted on the effect on physical adaptation to chronic diseases scores, it was concluded that the effect of agreeableness and conscientiousness scores on physical adaptation to chronic diseases scores was positively significant. According to the study regression analysis, it was determined that agreeableness, conscientiousness and extraversion have a positive effect on general adjustment and extraversion has a positive effect on psychological adjustment. It emphasizes the multifaceted nature of adjustment processes and the important effect of personality traits on these processes. As a result, it was determined that there is a relationship between adaptation to the disease and personality traits.
