Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, Fen Bilimleri dersinde“Beş Duyumuz”ünitesinin yapılandırmacı yaklaşıma dayalı 5E Modeli ile işlenmesinin, ilkokul 3. sınıf öğrencilerinin akademik başarılarına etkisini incelemektir. Araştırma, öntest-sontest kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desenle gerçekleştirilmiştir.“Beş Duyumuz”ünitesinin 5E modeli ile işlenmesinin öğrenci başarısına etkisini ölçmek için araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen bir başarı testi kullanılmıştır. Deney ve kontrol grupları, seçilirken grupların büyüklükleri dikkate alınarak eşleştirilmiştir. Dersler, deney grubunda araştırmacı tarafından, kontrol grubunda ise sınıf öğretmeni tarafından verilmiş ve her iki gruba toplamda 6 ders saati işlenmiştir. Araştırma beş hafta süresince devam etmiştir. İlk hafta, öğrencilerin ön bilgilerini değerlendirmek amacıyla öntest uygulanmış; beşinci hafta sonunda ise sontest yapılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde SPSS 27 yazılım programı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın alt problemlerinin istatistiksel çözümünde, deney ve kontrol gruplarının öntest ve sontest başarı puanları arasındaki farkı belirlemek amacıyla ilişkisiz örneklem t-testi uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, deney ve kontrol grupları arasında öntest aşamasında herhangi bir anlamlı fark bulunmamış, dolayısıyla iki grubun da başlangıç bilgi düzeylerinin benzer olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ancak sontest sonuçlarına bakıldığında, deney grubunun başarı puan ortalamasının, kontrol grubuna kıyasla istatistiksel olarak anlamlı şekilde yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu bulgu, 5E öğretim modelinin öğrenci başarısını artırmada etkili bir yöntem olduğunu ortaya koymuştur.

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of teaching the“ Our Five Senses”unit in the science course using the 5E Model, which is based on the constructivist approach, on the academic achievement of third-grade primary school students. The research was designed using a pre-test and post-test control group experimental model. An achievement test developed by the researcher was used to measure the effect of teaching the“Our Five Senses”unit using the 5E model on student achievement. The experimental and control groups were selected and their sizes were considered in the matching process. The lessons were taught by the researcher in the experimental group and by the class teacher in the control group, with a total of 6 lessons delivered to both groups. The research was conducted over a five-week period. In the first week, a pre-test was applied to assess the students' prior knowledge, and a post-test was administered at the end of the fifth week. SPSS 27 software was used for data analysis. To address the sub-problems of the study, an independent samples t-test was applied to determine whether there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test achievement scores of the experimental and control groups. According to the results, no significant difference was found between the experimental and control groups in the pre-test, indicating that both groups had similar baseline knowledge. However, the post-test results revealed that the experimental group's mean score was statistically significantly higher than that of the control group. This finding demonstrates that the 5E model is an effective method for enhancing student achievement.
