Determining the Relationship Between Obstetric Violence and Postpartum Depression in Puerperal Women Aim: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between obstetric violence and postpartum depression in puerperal women. Material and Method: The research was conducted with 351 puerperal women who applied to Dr. Filiz Dolunay, Şerifefendi, Ceylanoğlu and Veyisefendi Family Health Centers affiliated to Erzurum Yakutiye District Health Directorate and met the inclusion criteria of the research between July 10, 2023 and February 01, 2025. Data were collected using the Personal Descriptive Form, Obstetric Violence Perception Scale, and Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS). The research data were analyzed using the SPSS 20.0 statistical package program. Number, percentage, mean, min-max values, and Pearson's correlation analysis were used in the data evaluation. Results: Of the puerperal women in the study, 76.9% were under the age of 35, 40.4% had a bachelor's degree or higher, 75.2% were unemployed, 66.4% had an income equal to their expenses and 92.3% did not attend pregnancy education classes. The puerperal women's mean score on the Pre-Pregnancy and Pregnancy Period sub-dimension of the Obstetric Violence Perception Scale was 15.35±4.90, their mean score on the Moment of Birth sub-dimension was 10.02±4.21, and their mean score on the Postpartum Period sub-dimension was 32.11±9.88. The mean score of the puerperal women on the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale was found to be 8.05±5.71. 20.2% of the puerperal women who scored 13 or higher on the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale were at risk of postpartum depression). A strong positive relationship was identified between the puerperal women's mean score on the Edinburg Postpartum Depression Scale and the Pre-Pregnancy and Pregnancy Period, Moment of Birth, and Postpartum Period sub-dimensions and the total score average of the Obstetric Violence Perception Scale (p<0.0001). Conclusion: The present study found that obstetric violence increased the risk of postpartum depression.
