Özet
Bu araştırmada, 2024-2025 Eğitim-Öğretim yılında İngilizce dersinde konuşma becerisi derslerinde uygulanan akvaryum tekniğinin öğrenciler üzerine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Çalışma, Kilis'teki bir ortaokulda 7.sınıf öğrencileri üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiş ve benzer başarı seviyelerine sahip iki sınıf deney ve kontrol grubu olarak seçilmiştir. Araştırma MEB tarafından belirlenen 7.sınıf İngilizce öğretim programı 1.dönem ders konularını içermektedir. Araştırma, karma yöntem ve gömülü deneysel desen kullanılarak tasarlanmıştır. Nicel boyutta, ön test-son test kontrol gruplu iç içe geçmiş deneysel desen kullanılmış, nitel boyutta ise öğrenci görüşme formları ve araştırmacı günlüğü ile veriler toplanmıştır. Nicel veriler SPSS programı ile analiz edilmiş; Mann-Whitney U ve Wilcoxon İşaretli Sıra Testi kullanılmıştır. Ntel veriler ise içerik ve betimsel analiz yöntemleriyle analiz edilmiştir. Öğretim sürecinin tamamlanmasının ardından, deney grubu ön test-son test sonuçları, kontrol grubu ön test son test sonuçları, deney ve kontrol grubu ön test son test sonuçları, deney grubu ölçek alt maddelerinin ön test-son test sonuçları, kontrol grubu ölçek alt maddelerinin ön test-son test sonuçları analiz edilmiştir. Ulaşılan bulgular sonucunda akvaryum tekniği uygulamalarının deney grubu öğrencilerinin konuşma becerisine olumlu katkılar sağladığı görülmüştür. Dil bilgisi alt maddesinin etki büyüklüğü orta düzeyde olsa da diğer alt maddelerde çok anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Kontrol grubu öğrencileriyle yapılan öğretim süreci öğrencilerin konuşma becerisine anlamlı bir katkı sağlamamıştır. Yapılan gözlemler ve konuşmalar sonucunda akvaryum tekniğinin öğrencilerin İngilizce konuşma becerisi üzerinde olumlu etkileri olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak farklı yöntem ve tekniklerle yapılan konuşma dersleri öğrencilerin konuşma becerisine olumlu katkılar sağladığı ortaya koymaktadır. Eğitimciler daha verimli dersler işleyebilmek için yeniliklere açık olmalı ve farklı yöntemlerle akvaryum tekniği kıyaslaması yaparak tekniğin yararları ve kısıtlılıkları üzerine araştırmalar yapılabileceği vurgulanmaktadır.

In this study, the effect of the aquarium technique applied in speaking skill lessons in English lessons in the 2024-2025 academic year on students was investigated. The study was conducted on 7th grade students in a secondary school in Kilis and two classes with similar achievement levels were selected as experimental and control groups. The study included the 7th grade English curriculum 1st semester course topics determined by the Ministry of National Education. The study was designed using mixed method and embedded experimental design. In the quantitative dimension, a nested experimental design with pretest-posttest control group was used, and in the qualitative dimension, data were collected through student interview forms and researcher diary. Quantitative data were analyzed with SPSS program; Mann-Whitney U and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test were used. Qualitative data were analyzed with content and descriptive analysis methods. After the completion of the teaching process, the pre-test-post-test results of the experimental group, the pre-test-post-test results of the control group, the pre-test-post-test results of the experimental and control groups, the pre-test-post-test results of the experimental group scale sub-items, and the pre-test-post-test results of the control group scale sub-items were analyzed. As a result of the findings, it was seen that the aquarium technique applications made positive contributions to the speaking skills of the experimental group students. Although the effect size of the grammar sub-item was moderate, it was observed that there was a very significant difference in other sub-items. The teaching process with the control group students did not make a significant difference in students' speaking skills. As a result of the observations and conversations, it was observed that the aquarium technique had positive effects on students' English speaking skills. As a result, speaking lessons with different methods and techniques make positive contributions to students' speaking skills. It is emphasized that educators should be open to innovations in order to teach more efficient lessons and that research can be conducted on the benefits and limitations of the technique by comparing aquarium technique with different methods.
