Özet
Nostalji, genellikle güçlü hatıralar tarafından tetiklenen ve geçmişe özlem olarak tanımlanan, yoğun bir duygu durumudur. Nostalji duygusunun özü geçmişe ait yaşantılardır. Bellek ise geçmişe ait bu yaşantıları bünyesinde depolayan, işleyen, onları belirli durumlarda geri çağıran zihinsel bir süreçtir. Nostalji ve bellek arasında simbiyotik bir ilişki mevcuttur. Nostalji, bir bakıma belleğin duyguların süzgecinden geçirilmiş hâlidir. Otobiyografik bellek ile doğrudan ilişkili olan nostalji, kişinin otobiyografik anılarını depoladığı“öz bellek”sistemine dayanır. Bu anılar, edebî eserlerde maziye duyulan özlem teması ekseninde sıklıkla kullanılır. Bu temalar özellikle otobiyografik kurgularda metnin hareket noktasını oluşturur. Anlatı kişilerinin geçmişlerinin geriye dönüşlerle okuyucuya sunulması, karakterlerin derinleştirilmesine katkı sağlar. Geriye dönüşlerin odak noktasında ise bellek vardır. Bellek, benliğin kendi varlığına anlamlar yükleme ve kendini ifade etme sürecinde yöneldiği tarihî hafızadır. Bu hatırlayışlardaki amaç benliğin duygusal doyuma ulaşmasını sağlamaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda birey, güncel yaşayışı ve geçmişi arasında sebep sonuç ilişkileri kurarak kimliğini anlamlandırmaya yönelir. Bu yönelim sırasında benlik; bellek yolculuklarıyla geçmiş, şu an ve gelecek arasında hatıralar ve imajlardan oluşan bağlar kurar. Bellek, hatırlanmak ya da unutulmak istenen birçok yaşantıyı bünyesinde barındırsa da geçmiş genellikle“geri dönme”arzusunun baskın olduğu bir olgudur. Kimi zaman birey geri dönme isteğini büyük bir özlem eşliğinde hissederken kimi zaman bu dönüş isteğinin altında yaşananları değiştirme gayesi yatar. Bu noktada devreye modern çağın popüler kavramlarından biri olan“nostalji”girer. Nostalji hem kişisel hem de kolektif bir deneyim olarak edebî eserlerde mazinin romantize edilmesiyle kendini gösterir. Mazi, bellek ve nostalji kavramlarının kesişim noktasını oluşturur. Nostalji ve bellek arasındaki ilişki, bireyin maziyi nasıl anımsadığı ve bu anımsamalarla nasıl bir duygusal bağ kurduğuyla ilgilidir. Bellek, bireyin hatıralarını muhafaza ettiği bir depo iken nostalji bu hatıralara duyulan özlemi ifade eder. Yazın dünyamızın usta çevirmeni Kâmuran Şipal, edebiyatımıza kazandırdığı üç roman ve beş hikâye kitabını“mazi”izleği üzerine inşa etmiş ve anlatı kişilerine yoğun bellek yolculukları yaptırmıştır. Yazarın roman ve hikâyelerinde bu etki güçlü bir şekilde hissedilir. Tezimizde Kâmuran Şipal'in eserlerinde bellek ve nostalji temalarının yansımaları irdelenmeye çalışılacaktır. Bu çalışma, Kâmuran Şipal'in edebî külliyatını oluşturan beş öykü kitabı ve üç romanının yanı sıra sanatçının kitaplaştırılmamış şiirlerini içermektedir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinin benimsendiği tezde, Şipal'in eserleri modern edebiyat perspektifinden hem yapısal hem de izleksel katmanlarıyla analiz edilecektir. Çalışmamız,“Giriş”ve“Sonuç”kısımları dışında üç ana bölümden oluşmaktadır.“Nostalji ve Bellek”adlı bölümünde,“bellek”ve“nostalji”kavramlarının teorik çerçevesi çizilecek;“Kâmuran Şipal'in Hayatı ve Edebî Kişiliği”adlı bölümde yazarın biyografisi ve sanat anlayışı irdelenecektir.“Kâmuran Şipal'in Eserlerinde Bellek ve Nostalji”bölümünde ise bu teorik veriler ışığında, eserlerdeki biçim ve içerik unsurları tematik alt başlıklarla incelenecektir. Tezimizin literatüre özgün bir katkı sunması amaçlanmaktadır.

Nostalgia is an intense emotional state, often triggered by powerful memories and defined as a longing for the past. The essence of nostalgia lies in experiences from the past. Memory, on the other hand, is a mental process that stores, processes, and recalls these past experiences in specific situations. There is a symbiotic relationship between nostalgia and memory. Nostalgia is, in a sense, memory filtered through emotions. Directly related to autobiographical memory, nostalgia relies on the“core memory”system where a person stores their autobiographical memories. These memories are frequently used in literary works centered on the theme of nostalgia for the past. These themes form the starting point of the text, especially in autobiographical fiction. Presenting the characters' pasts to the reader through flashbacks contributes to the deepening of the characters. Memory is the focal point of these flashbacks. Memory is the historical memory that the self turns to in the process of assigning meaning to its own existence and expressing itself. The purpose of these recollections is to ensure that the self achieves emotional satisfaction. To this end, the individual seeks to make sense of their identity by establishing cause-and-effect relationships between their current life and their past. During this orientation, the self establishes connections between the past, present, and future through memory journeys, forming bonds composed of memories and images. Although memory contains many experiences that one wishes to remember or forget, the past is generally a phenomenon dominated by the desire to“return.”Sometimes the individual feels this desire to return with great longing, while at other times the underlying motive for this desire to return is the goal of changing what has been experienced. At this point, the concept of“nostalgia,”one of the popular concepts of the modern age, comes into play. Nostalgia manifests itself in literary works through the romanticization of the past, both as a personal and collective experience. The past forms the intersection point of the concepts of memory and nostalgia. The relationship between nostalgia and memory concerns how an individual recalls the past and how they form an emotional bond with these recollections. While memory is a repository where individuals store their recollections, nostalgia expresses the longing felt for these memories. This summer, master translator Kâmuran Şipal built his three novels and five story collections, which he contributed to our literature, on the theme of“the past”and took his narrative characters on intense journeys of memory. This influence is strongly felt in the author's novels and stories. In our thesis, we will attempt to examine the reflections of the themes of memory and nostalgia in the works of Kâmuran Şipal. This study includes Kâmuran Şipal's five short story collections and three novels that make up his literary corpus, as well as the artist's unpublished poems. Adopting qualitative research methods, the thesis will analyze Şipal's works from a modern literary perspective, examining both their structural and thematic layers. Our study consists of three main sections, excluding the“Introduction”and“Conclusion”sections. In the section titled“Nostalgia and Memory,”the theoretical framework of the concepts of“memory”and“nostalgia”will be outlined; in the section titled“Kâmuran Şipal's Life and Literary Personality,”the author's biography and artistic approach will be examined. In the section titled“Memory and Nostalgia in the Works of Kâmuran Şipal,”the formal and content elements of the works will be examined under thematic subheadings in light of these theoretical data. The aim is for our thesis to make an original contribution to the literature.
