Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, eğitim alanında değişen gereksinimleri analiz etmek, yeni eğitim sistemini şekillendirecek Sınıf Değerlendirmesi olgusunu anlayıp bu olgunun faydalarının İngilizce öğretimindeki önemini ve bu tekniklerin Türk eğitim sistemine nasıl uygulanabileceğini ortaya koymaktır. Tezin araştırma aşamasında, mevcut Türk eğitim sisteminin temel yapısını ortaya koyan not sisteminin, toplumsal değişime ayak uydurarak çağdaş toplumun gereksinimlerini karşılayabilecek bireyler yetiştirilmesini sağlamak için modernize edilmesi gerekliliği irdelenmiştir. Bu modernizasyon, dünya üzerinde kullanılan en yaygın yol olan sınıf değerlendirmesi teknikleri aracılığı ile öğrencinin kendisine öğretilene ortak olmasını, bu sürecin parçası olmasını sağlayarak gerçekleştirilmelidir. Tez boyunca teorik açıdan irdelenen sınıf değerlendirmesi ve bu yöntemin mevcut not sistemine göre avantajlarından sonra, İngilizce eğitiminde sınıf değerlendirmesi teknikleri ve not sistemi tekniklerinin uygulandığı aynı seviyedeki iki farklı sınıfta teorik veriler test edilmiştir. Sonuçlar, sınıf değerlendirmesi teknikleri uygulanan sınıftaki öğrencilerin İngilizce dersinde daha başarılı olduğunu ve dolayısıyla tezin hipotezinin doğruluğunu ortaya koymuştur.

The main purpose of this study is to analyze the changing requirements in the field of education, understanding the concept of Classroom Assessment that is to define the form of new educational system and to reflect the significance of this concept in teaching English as well as defining how these techniques can be applied in the Turkish education system. In the research stage of this study, the necessity to modernize the existing grading system, the main core of the Turkish education system, to help citizens to meet the requirements of the modern society by keeping up with the social change has been examined. This modernization should be completed through the techniques of the classroom assessment, the most commonly used method, by letting the students be a part of what is being thauht to them in this process. After the completion of the theoretical examination of the classroom assessment and the advantages of this method in comparison to existing grading system, throughout the thesis study, the theoretical data is tested on two seperate English classes of equal level where the classroom assessment techniques and grading system are applied. The results clearly demonstrated that the students of the classroom where the classroom assessment is applied are far more succesful in the English course and thus the hypothesis of this study is correct.
