Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı. ? Fen ve Teknoloji Dersinde Periyodik Çizelgenin Öğretiminde 5E Modelinin Öğrenci Tutum ve Başarısına Etkisi?ni araştırmaktır.Çalışmanın örneklemini, M.E.B. 30 Eylül Yatılı İlköğretim Bölge Okulu'nda öğrenim gören 45 tane ilköğretim yedinci sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Çalışma 2007-2008 öğretim yılının birinci döneminde yapılmıştır. Çalışmada öntest- sontest kontrol grubu dizaynı kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemi için rasgele iki sınıf seçilmiştir. Kontrol grubuna geleneksel öğretim metoduyla, deney grubuna ise yapılandırıcı öğretime dayalı 5E Metodu ile eğitim verilmiştir. Her iki grupta da periyodik cetvel ile ilgili benzer aktiviteler yapılmıştır.Çalışmanın hipotezlerini test etmek için t-testi ve ANCOVA analizi yapılmıştır. Analiz, sonuçlarında, 5E modeliyle eğitim verilen öğrencilerin, başarıları ile geleneksel metotla eğitim verilen öğrencilerin başarıları arasında 5E metodu lehine anlamlı bir farkın olduğu bulunmuştur. Ayrıca 5E modeliyle eğitim verilen öğrencilerin fen bilgisine karşı tutumları ile geleneksel metotla eğitim verilen öğrencilerin tutumlarında da geleneksel metot lehine anlamlı bir fark olduğu bulunmuştur.Bu çalışmanın bulgularına dayanarak, fen ve teknoloji eğitiminde öğrencilerin bilişsel alanın üst düzey davranışlarının kazanılmasında 5E modelinin daha etkili olduğu sonucuna varılabilir.

The purpose of this study is to test the effect of 5E model on student achievement and attitude for teaching periodic table in science lesson.In this study the sample were consisted of 45 students who were from 30 Eylül Boarding Zone Primary School. The study was conducted during the 2007-2008 first semester.In this study, pre test-post test control grup design was used. The subjects of this study was divided into two (experimental and control) groups randomly. The control group were taught with traditional teaching method, while the experimental group were learned with constructivist learning model. Similar activities which were related to periodic table were used in both groups.T-test and ANCOVA analysis were used for testing the hypotheses of the study. The results showed that students who were learned with a 5E model scored significantly higher than the students who were taught with traditional teaching method with respect to achievement.
