This study is directed towards understanding Turkish Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Policy with respect to its grand aim of economic development. Europeanization is contested as a factor influencing the Turkish STI Policy agenda and tendencies. Given that the main aim of Turkish STI policy is to realize economic development, its relevance for science, technology and innovation (STI) based economic development theories is discussed. Turkish STI Policy is handled against national preconditions, needs and the European integration process to attain economic development. In this vein, the theoretical basis of economic development and the Europeanization process in STI is analysed for building appropriate policies and strategies for Turkey. This study mainly sets forth that economic development has arisen as the main ideal of Turkish STI Policy and Europeanization has added positively to the evolution of this policy. European tendencies and policies constitute a major example. Upon this framework, a set of policy recommendations and tools are proposed with the aim in mind to increase the impact of Turkish STI policies for economic development and management of the Europeanization process in this respect.
