Özet (Çeviri)
Addition to studies on mainly English-speaking children's selective and flexible trust abilities, Turkish preschoolers' performance also examined in this study. Three- and four year olds presented with two puppets which are an expert in one category –toys vs. food. Their expertise was presented gradually to 80 preschoolers. To have insight to 3-and 4-year-olds understanding of notion expertise and abilities of ‗endorse trust', ‗switch trust' and ‗flexible trust, their performances on ‗theory of mind' and ‗executive function' performances also examined. All children were able to keep the track of expertise of each puppet. Despite the matching age related theory of mind and executive function abilities with others, 3-year-old British children failed to trust in each step of the paradigm. Turkish 3- and 4- year olds and British 4-year- olds were able to endorse trust and then switch their trust (only in one trial) to the other expert. One trial of endorse trust was significantly related with executive function measure of rule shifting and the other one was related to inhibitory control measure. The false belief performance was significant factor for predicting the performance in one of the switch trials. Children's understanding of the domain specific nature of the knowledge was limited. Their poor false belief abilities were in line with their poor performance in switch and flexible trust. The Turkish 3-and 4- year olds better performance in endorse trust compared to British is argued as the result of grammaticalized source monitoring markers in Turkish language.
