SUMMARY Aim of this study is to present the directions of popular culture in Turkey and its effects on plastic art education. The street sculptures exhibited at 'Yüksel Caddesi“ are considered as popular culture products. These sculptures are related to not only culture, ideology and art but also education. Those concepts in quesiton are not separable from one another. In every period of history, culture is consumed in different levels. This difference make up the elite and folk culture. Popular means what folks' like and what belongs to them. Popular culture is related to ideology for it appeals to folk' common delight. The simplicity at the popular art products creates vulgarism in the use of its language and style. Vulgarism in language and style generates a low perception in the mind of art consumer. The function of education is very important in coping with the vulgarism we face in life. Education in schools is run under strict planning and programming. However, life at home, on streets, in business, etc. is too, a kind of learning process. The tendencies generated on the art consumer by the sculptures located at ”Yüksel Caddesi" are of vital importance from the point of education. So as to illuminate the tendencies of the art consumers from the point of education, a detailed public survey is applied to the teachers and students at Ankara Mimar Kemal Primary School. The public survey that we applied has both illuminated the tendencies levels to art and has given way to the discovery at the contribution at the sculptures to the objectives of the plastic art education. It is important parameters that educational degree and groups of age are affected different levels from popular culture. It is presented that the negative influence of popular culture is not deal with the organic education
