Özet

IV ABSTRACT This research is a study to determine personel and professional qualities which can become criteria during the process of selecting teachers and selection steps to take part in selection process and the relevance of the process and necessary information which has to be used in the steps. The research was made on 141 administrators, 132 teachers and 136 inspectors totalling 409 working in the vicinity of Ankara manuplicity. Desired data, in research was obtained with the information form what is called“Teacher Selection Research”developed by researcher. In According to the aim of the research, frequency* percentage, arithmatic average and one dimensioned variation analysis were used to analyze the obtained data. The findings in the research are summarized as follows: 1. Administrators, teachers and inspectors found out that the evaulation did not undergone a change for the importance level of personel quality that could be used in selecting teachers. People participating the research stated that 21 personel qualities were“quite”, the rest 12 personel qualities were“very”important of all 33 personel qualities in personel quality dimension. 2. There was no considerable difference among evaulations for the importance level of professional quality which Administrators teachers and inspectors could use in selecting teachers. The groups found that 17 qualities were“quite”the rest were“very”important of all 26 professional qualities in personel quality dimension. 3. The findings for selecting steps that can be used to determine the appropriateness of canditates in the process of selecting teachers' are as follows:a) People taking part in research stated that application form should include“professional background”(78 %) and“the information for candidate's education”(77.3 %) apart from personel and identity information. 64 % of people in the group proposed that the information should state if the candidate has physical disability that can prevent him from carrying out his duty. b) That the majority of the groups agreed to the statements that the candidates should be eliminated if he has a problem with physical disability (81.7 %) and has no quality for teaching proffession, was observed. c) That the majority of the groups agreed that the tests of general ability (72.1 %), success (61.1 %), proficiency in special field knowledge (73.6 %) and general culture and Turkish Language proficiency should be given was observed. d) The priority listing of the groups in total and subgroups to the. question of“which methods should be used on the verge of interview?”does not change. The majority of the groups have the same idea as“the planned interview method”should be used. e) 58.7 % of the groups stated that the candidates should be evaluated in a class setting by showing the ability chosen by the candidate for the step of observing the candidate in a class. In the light of the findings. It was concluded that personel and professional qualites could become criteria for selecting teachers, and also, information and processes approved by the groups could be used in selection process for selection steps. Necessary suggestions were made based on findings and resolutions obtained in the research.
