Özet

Bu çalışma, Pamukkale Üniversitesinde eğitim gören öğrencilerin, gelecek beklentileri ve yetenek gelişimlerine, üniversite eğitiminin etkisini araştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Ancak araştırmanın öngörülen çalışma takvimindeki başlangıç tarihi dünya genelinde etkili olan COVID-19 virüsünün yayılma dönemine denk gelmiştir. Bu çakışma sebebiyle, pandeminin etkilerinin de çalışmaya dâhil edilmesinin uygun olacağı düşünülmüştür. Çalışmada belirlenen amaçlar doğrultusunda, hâlihazırdaki bir durumu ortaya çıkartmanın etkili yollarından biri olan nitel araştırma yöntemi esas alınmış ve betimsel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında, üç ayrı örneklem belirlenmiştir. Bunlar, Pamukkale Üniversitesi akademisyenleri, Pamukkale Üniversitesinde öğrenim gören, 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılı döneminde 2. 3. ve 4. sınıf olan öğrenciler ile Denizli ili sınırları içerisinde yer alan işverenlerden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmaya 33 üniversite öğrencisi, 30 akademisyen ve 27 işveren katılmıştır. Araştırmada, nitel araştırmalarda kullanılan amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden kartopu örnekleme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmacı tarafından, pandemi sürecinde öğrencilerin ilgi ve yetenek gelişimine üniversitenin etkisini ölçmek amacıyla, yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat formu hazırlanmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda, akademisyen ve öğrencilerin pandemi döneminde özellikle internete erişim ve bağlanma konusunda problem yaşadıkları, psikolojik olarak bu süreçten etkilendikleri ve motivasyon düşüklüğü yaşadıkları görülmüştür. Bununla beraber, akademisyen ve öğrencilerin teknolojiye dair bilgi birikimlerinin geliştiği, dersleri tekrar izleyebilmenin ve evden eğitime katılmanın da zamandan tasarruf sağladığı, elde edilen bulgular arasındadır. Ayrıca, iş hayatında işverenlerin çalışanlardan beklediği yetkinliklerin pandemi ile değişime uğradığına yönelik bulgular da elde edilmiştir. Yükseköğretim kurumlarının, değişen yetkinlikleri kazanma sürecinde, öğrencilere nasıl yardımcı olacağı yönünde öneriler araştırmanın sonunda belirtilmiştir.

This study was conducted to examinethe effect ofuniversity education on the future expectations and skill development of students studying at Pamukkale University. However, the start date of the study in the predicted schedule coincided with the spread period of the COVID-19 virus, which affected the entire world. Due to this overlap, it was thought that it would be appropriate to include the effects of the pandemic in the study. In accordance with the aims determined in the study, the qualitative research method, which is one of the effective ways to reveal a current situation, was taken as a basis and the descriptive survey model was used. In the study, three samples were determined. These were academicians working in the Pamukkale University,2nd, 3rd and 4th -year students studying at Pamukkale University in the 2021-2022 academic year, and employers carrying on a business within the borders of Denizli province. 33 university students, 30 academicians, and 27 employers participated in the study. Snowball sampling technique, one of the purposive sampling methods used in qualitative studies, was used in the study. A semi-structured interview form was prepared by the researcher in order to assess the effect of the university on the interest and skill development of the students during the pandemic. As a result of the study, it was observed that the academicians and the students had difficulties especially in accessing and connecting to the internet during the pandemic, their psychology was affected by this process, and they had low motivation. On the other hand, the findings also revealed that knowledge of the academicians and the students about technology increased and opportunities of watching the coursesrepeatedly and attending courses at home also provided time saving. In addition, the competences that employers expect from employees in business life have changed as a result of the pandemic. Suggestions on how higher education institutions will help students in the process of gaining the changing competences were offered at the end of the study.
