Özet (Çeviri)

One of the biggest difficulties of migration from one country to another is to learn the language spoken in the new country and to adapt to the country's rules and culture. People from Turkey have immigrated to the United Kingdom since 1980 and the population of Turks in the UK has increased gradually because of coups in Turkey in 1990s and the Cyprus conflict. Therefore, whilst living in this country, Turkish people have sent their children to English schools. As a result, they have to learn English and adapt to English society by learning the rules and culture. In addition, although there are numbers of research about dyslexia and bilingualism, there is a small size of study regarding problems of dyslexic bilingual people. The aim of this study is that the problems of Turkish dyslexic children who are living in the UK, experienced because of reasons above, has been investigated and several possible solutions have been given to this cruel disease. This investigation and study is based firstly on literature and secondly on voices of participants (dyslexic children, their parents and teachers). There is a gap in research area on problems Turkish dyslexic bilingual children and most research has been done in different countries, such as Germany. Therefore, this study was investigated the difficulties and problems of dyslexic Turkish children in the UK using an interview method with their family and teachers. As a result, the most widely accepted fact of dyslexia is that it has to be pin pointed out as early as possible so that measures that are taken can work best. A problem arises though when English becomes a second language (EAL) for some children, diagnosing them is not as easy as for those with English as their primary language and they tend to be identified in smaller numbers than expected. The other accepted fact of dyslexia is that for reading difficulties, there is a need for early identification.
