Özet
Amaç: KOBİ'ler hem yerel hem de küresel ekonomik sistemlerde önemli bir role sahiptir ve önemli sayıda imalat KOBİ'si uluslararası faaliyet göstermektedir. Bu nedenle bu çalışma, Türk imalat sanayinde faaliyet gösteren KOBİ'lerin ihracata katılımını etkileyen örgütsel faktörler araştırılmıştır. Metodoloji: Bu çalışmada, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Ticaret ve Sanayi Bakanlığı-KOSGEB tarafından otuz beş sanayi şehrini kapsayan, imalat sanayi KOBİ'lerinin katıldığı ikincil kesitsel anket verileri kullanılmıştır. Veri analizi il düzeyinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri analizlerinde Pearson korelasyon ve regresyon analizi yöntemlerine başvurulmuştur. Bulgular: Özgünlük. Araştırma bulguları, KOBİ'lerin yönetim biçimleri, firma yeterlilikleri, ihracat politikası ve firmanın organizasyon yapısının, imalatçı KOBİ'lerin ihracat katılımındaki varyasyonun önemli bir bölümünü açıkladığını göstermiştir. Ayrıca çalışma, ihracat faaliyetlerinde yönetsel yapının öneminin anlaşılmasına katkı sağlamıştır. KOBİ'leri içeren gelecekteki ihracat davranışı araştırmaları için kurumsal yönetişimin önemi ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Ayrıca, firmanın ihracat katılımını etkileyen faktörler arasındaki ilişkinin net bir resmini oluşturmak için literatür taraması yapılarak bir ihracat başarı modeli geliştirilmiştir. Sınırlamalar: Çalışmanın kesitsel doğası gereği, araştırma bulguları nedensellik hususunda sınırlamalara sahiptir. Ek olarak, bu çalışma il seviyesinde elde edilen veriler ile makro düzeyde yapıldığı içim 35 ili kapsayan sınırlı bir örneklem büyüklüğüne sahiptir ve sınırlı sayıda örgütsel faktör incelenebilmiştir.

Purpose: SMEs have a significant role in both domestic and global economic systems and a considerable number of manufacturing SMEs operate internationally, this study, therefore, considers manufacturing SMEs is a specific and suitable field to investigate the internal factors affecting export involvement of SMEs and to identify the most significant factors that underlie the export involvement of these firms in Turkey. Methodology: This study used secondary cross-sectional survey data composed of thirty-five different industrial city reports, in which only manufacturing SMEs participated. The data were gathered from Republic of Turkey Ministry of Trade and Industry-KOSGEB (Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization) database in order to examine the relationship of the internal factors to export involvement of the firm through use of Pearson and regression analysis. Findings/ Originality: Undoubtedly, this stream of research showed that internal factors, in particular managerial characteristics, firm competencies, export policy and organisational structure of the firm account for a substantial portion of the variation in the export involvement of manufacturing SMEs. Furthermore, the study has enhanced understanding of the significance of managerial characteristics in export activities and has also underlined the importance of corporate governance for future export behaviour researches involving SMEs. Moreover, an export success model has been developed through research of the literature review in order to create a clear picture of the relationship between the factors affecting export involvement of the firm. Limitations: The cross-sectional nature of the study is likely to have limitations for the researcher to delve into the issues of causality. Additionally, the study has a limited sample size and examined limited number of internal factors. The review attains several noteworthy conclusions and suggests directions for future research in the conclusion and recommendation chapter.
