163 SUMMARY In this study which is a survey model the verbal behaviors of instructors and their students in the class are tried to be analyzed through observation, record and using one of the methods of interaction analysis. In the study the following questions are tried to be answered: a. What are the verbal communication behaviors of instructors in the class? b. What are the verbal communication behaviors of students in the class? c. What time of the lecture time is spend on verbal behaviors in the class? d. Is there any correlation between the behavior of students and that of instructors in the class? e. Is there any relation between the class levels in the class? The universe of the study is stated as the social studies instructors and their students from the elementary schools in Altındağ district of Ankara. The samples are composed of ten elementary schools in Altındağ district, the 4th and 5th class social studies instructors (20 instructors) and their students (875 students). The technics use to collect data is Ober's“Reciprocal Category System”. But Yeşilmen has adapted this system and researcher preferred to use this updated version.
