This dissertation is a piece of Autoethnographic research and aims to explore my Secondary Trauma experience, while I was working with war-affected Syrian children. This is rooted in my personal life experiences where I had to live through the difficulty of my brother's compulsory military duty in the Turkish Army as he was posted to the border between Turkey and Syria during the Syrian civil war, my eye-witnessing of 3-year-old Syrian boy's washed up body on a shore in my hometown, and my professional life experiences while I was working with Syrian war-affected children in a Social Service in Turkey. I utilized data from my diary to narrate my personal life experiences which were the part of my Secondary Trauma. Also, in order to deeply explore of my Secondary Trauma experience and the impact it on my professional ability, I reflect on three Syrian war-affected children's life stories whom I worked with as a Counsellor. Overall, reflecting on the context of my experience of Secondary Trauma using Autoethnography has shaped and changed the understanding of the reality of my world, and how I assigned meaning to my awareness of self.
